Rated 5 out of 5 by from If Cobra Kai had to choose a sleeping bag, this is the one they would pick. I like to think of the WM Alpinlite bag as my fortress of solitude! This sleeping bag instills fear and commands respect. It's baffles are lush and the extra room in the shoulders and legs provides an impenetrable sanctuary for those feeling down in the dumps. I took this bag on my A.T. Thru-hike, PCT Thru-hike, and the South Island of New Zealand and it lasted the test of time. It’s worth every penny you can muster and if anyone ever said anything bad about this bag (in front of me / in person) I would straight up bitch slap them. I love this bag and so will you…..Lancelot had Excalibur…. You can have the Alpinlite. BUY IT!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and cozy I purchased this bag specifically for a 5 day trip in the Sierras. The overnight temps dropped down into the mid-20's, but I stayed warm and cozy all night. Never even completely zipped it up. Others complained about being cold at night in their 20 degree bags. I'm 5'6" and the 6' bag was perfect for me. I stuffed the clothes I was going to put on in the morning in the bottom of the bag with room to spare. The material is durable and I never had a problem with the zipper snagging. The included compression sack doesn't really compress the bad. I purchased a small Sea to Summit compression sack and it worked great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well-designed, Luxurious & Cozy In low rainfall areas like CA, you can afford the luxury of goosedown. Wow, does it feel good!,,Design: The bag lofts high. A stiff tape makes the zipper snag-proof even if you are zipping up in the dark while half asleep. The 5'6" model is roomy for me at 5"2" with space to store whatever needs protection from cold. It packs easily in a 60 liter pack. And what if it rains? A tent & a good sleeping pad will get you through. This year I am upgrading my Thermarest Z pad which in a pinch collected driven rain in the wells of the pad to an Exped mat that will keep me 2 3/4" off the tent floor. Check it out.,,One Wish:,,For loops to secure the pad to the bag for restless sleepers who roll off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and light Feels somewhat warmer than its rating to a male cold sleeper. Very well made, with thoughtful touches that make it an effective part of a sleep system. The baffle placement allows you to push more or less of the down above or below you for more or less warmth. Keep in mind this is a technical bag, so you will need to treat it reasonably well to avoid damaging it, though it is not fragile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hey folks....... It's a Western Mountaineering product!!!!!!! Need I say more. Anyone who has a product with the manufacture's name tag on it knows what I'm about to say is true. It's super light weight but toasty warm. I love the no jam pull zipper. Very generous cut it allows for a layer of clothing. 800-850 plus power fill down makes this bag super compact so it stows in your pack with minimal space! All I can say is I bought this bag because I have three others by this manufacture.... Got the picture!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doubt i will ever buy another brand of sleeping bag! Bought this bag after several years of looking for the best bag for its weight. Tried several other name brands knew of western mountaineering from working at a outfitter that straddles the Appalachian trail. Finally bought this bag with the over stuffed down for a 12 self support kayak trip through the Grand Canyon, and couldn't have been happier. The trip was in the middle of January and at times the temperatures were in the low teens but I was warm the whole time. Used this bag off and on for trips between 1-5 days since then and never had a problem! It maintains its loft after being stuffed for extended amounts of time, that being said I always made sure to hang it out whenever I had the time. Bottom line is that yes western mountaineering bags are expensive but if you want guaranteed warmth at the lightest weight then this is the best bag on the market for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Light bag I have owned this for about a year and used it many times. It is as warm as it is rated, has a comfortable lining, and is very light and compressible. Excellent product. The zipper has a stiffener which makes it easy to open and close for that late night bathroom trip.

I camp in Northwest Rain Forest and rainy Northern Canadian Rockies. Is the outer shell water proof or DWR?

Asked by: Tagish Man
I did some more research on this matter, and found out this bag does come with very good DWR shell. I did talk to Western Mountaineering and confirmed it. They officially asked Moosejaw to delete the posting by Rocko Gigsby 2 days ago, but the posting is still there. It is very important to me. If the bag is waterproof or DWR treated I would definitely consider buying it, but if not I will not even think about buying it.

Asked by: Judi B
Hiya, thanks for the question! You should be fine in a 5' 6" bag. Hope this helps!
