Rated 4 out of 5 by from My first review First of all, let me say that I've just purchased this bag. I spent about 45 minutes at the Timbuk2 store in downtown Portland, sizing up and trying on all the bags they had before I seized upon on the BA. I used to be a bike messenger in the late 90's in San Francisco, and I'd been happy with my last two Timbuk2 bags. This time I was looking for something a little more stylish than the standard messenger, but still with the same set up. I knew as soon as I started messing with the BA that this was the bag I was looking for. The previous reviewers make some good points. I can see how one could argue that the lid doesn't fit snug enough and the bag needs to be fuller to actually secure it's contents. I don't necessarily agree with those sentiments, for the following reasons. The double straps *do* in fact tighten the lid down. Also, the shoulder strap serves to further tighten the contents to your person. I don't mean to be insulting, but that is the way a messenger bag is supposed to function-- you tighten the bag to your person, compressing the contents within the bag using the two lid straps, then compressing the bag itself to your body (like a baby monkey hanging on). Having said that, I can see how some users, casual office workers who don't really ride, would feel that the contents could fall out. If you are only carrying your laptop, this is too much bag for you. It is meant to hold more. The strap: it's heavy duty. It's placed high on the shoulder and secured there. That's how I wear my bag (not slung across my low back like a purse). I feel like Timbuk2 shoulder straps have gotten flimsier over the years, but this one was super solid and built to last. Laptop compartment: I'm not familiar with the laptop compartment on other bags, but yes, I put my Macbook Air in and it does indeed seem loose inside. Not that I would ever carry it like that. I have a separate hardshell case that my laptop always lives in-- I'm not a fan of trusting my laptop to just a "compartment"-- that little piece of equipment is too expensive to not have it's own dedicated case. If I roll my bike I want to know that I can land on my bag and not have to sweat it. In conclusion, I'd say this bag is exactly what I was looking for. A beefed-up and stylish messenger bag. I'll be writing another review in 6 months, after I've had a chance to put some wear and tear on it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great look/design, need smaller size I love the new design, very sleek, understated, and durable (I live in a rainy climate). But I returned mine because it was too big for daily use with my 13" laptop. They need two sizes for this bag. Also, the laptop pocket was totally inadequate - too loose and slippery. My laptop wouldn't stay put. The Timbuk2 messenger has a great laptop pocket, not sure why they didn't use something similar in this bag.
