Thule Has Made ChangesI debated b/w SportRack version and this. I take it off when not in use so roll down version wasn't a factor. I went w/ Thule (even though they make SR) bc I already had a HullaPort and was happy with it, price was good enough, and I specifically wanted the Thule straps and tie downs. This model is better than the old style bc you can strap to load bar faster/easier. But I wasn't happy to find out Thule eliminated the ratchet on the tie downs. You don't need it, and if you never used one you won't miss it. But since I expected it & bought this in part bc of it, I was bummed. This will fit the aeroblade, but just barely. And even on sale, for the $ I'm not paying an extra $25 for the adapter, when you really just need slightly longer bolts. That said, good luck finding fully threaded, 100mm 6m-100 ones. I couldn't. Remember that time the US nearly switched to metric like the rest of the world? Awfully glad we didn't do that and make life simpler. Just barely fits means it fits, so....

Works great with factory rooftop carrier!I have used this carrier twice to haul my 10' Pelican 100x kayak without incident. I first used it last fall and then stored the carriers (set) during the winter and then recently put them back on top of my Ford Explorer. It takes a few minutes to put them on the factory roof rack but once they are on, no problem! Just check them before each use to make sure they are still secure before loading your boat! I just got back from my first trip of the season and even at highway speeds no issue with the kayak coming loose or anything like that. I am planning to buy a second set and an additional kayak so that I can travel with two on the same vehicle. I will buy this model again.

Fast and easyI have 2 sets of these for my 12ft kayak and my GF's 10ft the bolts are a breeze we can have the racks and the kayaks on the roof in a matter of minutes! they hold the yaks secure and snug and the padding keeps them from getting scuffed up. Holds up to highway + speeds and all around great. Maybe the folding ones would be better if you want to leave them on with out the yaks. IDK what the other review about the bolts being a pain is about we have no prob with them. Word

Yakima is betterThe only reason i got these is because i needed them right away and they were the only rack sold a DICKS. The tie downs are actually better than the yakima ones, however the bolting system is a pain in the a$$. They certainly perform just fine supporting my 17footer all day, but where they fail is user friendliness. If you could take the tiedowns from these and the racks from yakima you would have a perfect system.
