ThermaCapture

ThermaCapture
ThermaCapture Radiant Heat Technology is a proprietary reflective coating that we apply to a range of surfaces. By reflecting radiant heat back to your body that is otherwise lost, this extremely lightweight coating turns that surface into a very efficient heat reflector, amplifying warmth without the excess weight or bulk of added, conventional insulating materials.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I hiked 2668 miles with mine! I bought a women's for my 2013 Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike because of the low weight and pack size and the high R-value. I had previously owned a regular Neo-Air (the rectangular type before they came out with the mummy shape) and was happy with it. I was concerned about bringing my NeoAir through the desert what with all the cacti and Joshua Trees, but it did alright. The first time it got a little hole my friend found it by submersing the mattress near the Deep Creek Hot Springs and watching for bubbles. The patch worked great, and the ease of the repair was heartening. It did develop a slow leak that I suffered with the last 1000 miles of my hike because I couldn't find a hole. That was frustrating. It turns out it was probably a leak at the valve. But by the time I finished my hike, the mattress had served its purpose and it was time to say goodbye. I passed it along to someone willing to clean it and fix the valve. Meaning: these mattresses have an unexpectedly long life (2668 miles/160 days of daily hard use)! And I can vouch that they are hard-working: I was never cold and rarely uncomfortable sleeping on my NeoAir.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable I've used this product, the last 2 years, on numerous backpacking trips. It's very comfortable, light weight, and easily packs (small). The biggest down side is it's noisy for a person that moves very much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 nights on the Bibbulmun Upgraded my Mountain Design self inflating mat after not having many very comfortable nights. This is a fantastic mat- superlight and supercomfortable for this 155 cm, 55kg female. Used it in a Bibb Hut 1 night and in a tent for 2 nights. Night temps around 8 - 15 degrees C. Slept so well, no waking up to turn over, didn't feel my hips at all. Didn't experience any issues with sliding or noisiness that others have mentioned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this pad! I have used this pad on thru-hikes of the Colorado Trail, the John Muir Trail, and the Ozark Trail, for over three months of being on the trail. It's light, comfortable and warm, and I haven't had any leaks. It can be a little challenging to inflate after a long day of hiking, especially at high altitude, but it's totally worth it to get a good night's sleep. I am a woman over 60, and if I can get a good night's sleep on this pad, anyone can.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used more than I imagined I got this a couple of months ago and since then have used it on various camps and in my office when my mother ended up taking over my room for a fortnight. It has got to the point where I am as used to sleeping on it as my bed. I like the extra insulation it gives over the foam self inflating mattress I had before and the extra cushioning for aging hips. The women's option means not having to carry wasted mattress for my height. My tip is to allow for how cold it is likely to get when inflating. Go for a full fill if chill will reduce the volume of air as the night progresses. If it is likely to be warm then under inflate so you sink into the mattress a little and then don't roll off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm, Luxurious Sleep! I took this camping in Big Sur last month and it was great, save for a few things - which are sort of exactly why I bought it, so I'm conflicted. It's a 66" pad, and I am a 67" woman - I thought this would be fine, but my toes dangling at the bottom did bother me. Make sure you're okay with this (or put your pack under your feet, maybe.) The other thing is that because it's more human-shaped than rectangle-shaped, it saves weight, but it is quite narrow - could be a little too narrow for me at the shoulders, because I'm a not-small 67" woman. HOWEVER, the sleep was great, I did not find it rustly/crackly at all, and as a side sleeper, my hip bones FINALLY did not hit the ground. Hallelujah.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like sleeping on a cloud of banana cream pie, but less sticky I have a hard time believing this thing even exists. It rolls up tiny but is impressively lofty. I get cold at night easily so I appreciate the extra insulation in the women's model. The regular is the perfect length for me (I am 5'8.5"). I haven't taken it on any long trips yet so I can't comment on its durability, but it seems sturdy. I have pretty bad scoliosis and am a side sleeper so a comfy mattress is absolutely essential for me, but this way I don't have to compromise on weight. More than I initially wanted to invest, but well worth it. I do think I'll invest in the inflation sack at some point, because it does take a good amount of effort to inflate and I want to keep water vapor out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super light and warm Love this sleeping pad! I decided to upgrade from my thermarest trail light (which is also fantastic!) for something lighter, but didn't want to give up the insulation. This was perfect! Material feels durable and it comes with a super compact repair kit that I will just keep in the carrying case for emergency use as it weights next to nothing. I was shocked at how well it insulates considering the low weight but it's just as warm as a self inflating mattress. Only downside is it feels smaller than my trail light, though this might just be because it sits higher off the ground so if your legs or arms dangle over the edge it's more noticeable. Might consider going for a larger (men's?) size if you are taller or want a little extra surface area under you.
