ThermaCapture Radiant Heat Technology is a proprietary reflective coating that we apply to a range of surfaces. By reflecting radiant heat back to your body that is otherwise lost, this extremely lightweight coating turns that surface into a very efficient heat reflector, amplifying warmth without the excess weight or bulk of added, conventional insulating materials.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Indestructible Tried and True I've slept on the ground using a poncho and poncho liner for a bed in my camping history. But as you get older you realize the value of a good night's sleep. And this pad is a mainstay in my sleeping gear set-up. I use this pad as an additional layer of insulation and support, as well as protection, for my inflatable sleeping pad. It's light, bomb-proof durable, and comes in several size options to accommodate most any camper/hiker. It does a superb job of protecting my expensive inflatable pad from damage, and gives an extra layer of warmth and comfort. It's inexpensive and will outlast the majority of my sleeping gear. It has a reflective silver material on one side to aid in transferring all that body heat back into my inflatable pad. It weighs in at 9 ounces for the Small version (48x200. 62) - 14 ounces for the Regular version (72x20x0.62) - 19 ounces for the Large version (77x25x0.62).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Soooooo warm!! I recently purchased 2 of these pads, and was skeptical of how they would perform, thinking that I would certainly need to layer them in order to keep the cold air from ruining my chances of good sleep. I sleep in a hammock when I camp out, and therefore the cold air from below me is always robbing me of good sleep. However, when I got cozy in my hammock with both pads under me, I was soon sweating despite the cool (40ish degrees) night air outside my hammock. All this to say, this pad is VERY efficient at reflecting body heat and keeping out the cold, especially for the affordability. and though this pad is not the most comfortable, it is literally indestructible and so durable! Great pad, definitely a keeper.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the pad for you. This get's 2 stars because it is light and has a warming factor. But it is THE WORST pad we have ever used. It's about as comfortable as a box of rocks. The Z-Lite is what you are looking for, it's light, and much more comfortable. Please don't buy this pad. You'll end up cutting it up for seat mats after a couple sleepless nights.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Sleeping Got two for a backpacking trip with my sister, one for each of us. They are as comfortable as I remembered. I had used two doubled up while dogsledding in MN. I'm not a fan of the fancy inflatable ones any longer (I've gone through several). They're very light weight and held up to some abuse. And I never had to worry about patching them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice foam mat I bought this foam mat for a car camping trip that I went on over Memorial Day weekend in Alaska. It worked perfectly! I was off the ground, warm, dry, and comfortable. I may one day upgrade to an inflatable Thermarest & read that this was a good pad to have underneath the inflatable one. Either way, I'm happy with it! And you can't beat the price!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gets the job doen It's a classic sleeping pad that does what you would expect, but nothing more. It is very bare bones and not soft.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Inexpensive And Works - Kinda... I've had one of these for years. It was my primary sleeping pad on more outings than I can count. The advantages are its superior insulating properties, provided you point the lighter side up. It's also very lightweight and affordable. Finally, being a closed-cell foam pad, it will never deflate in the middle of the night and is extremely durable. However it's also got some serious negatives. The biggest one is the size (pun intended). When rolled, this thing is actually larger than my packed 4-man tent. If you strap it on the outside of your pack, it can generally be ignored, but I prefer much more compact gear. After it's unrolled, it takes a while to flatten out. Also being thin, there's not much between you and every rock and irregularity on the ground. When I've used mine, I spend more time prepping the ground before pitching to make sure everything is comfy, especially my hips and shoulders, being a sidesleeper. As an alternative, try a Big Agnes insulated Air Core. More money but worth it...
