Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight dream This replaced an older Northface raincoat that had been great for year. I bought this online and used their sizing wizard to figure out what would work, it recommended either medium or large based on my measurements. (5'6" 150) I went with medium given that I am currently getting in shape. When it arrived I was amazed at how light it was! I was able to wear it with a light fleece or vest, and I am sure after a few more months of workouts even bulkier items would fit. My only concern was that it is so light I am thinking I would feel the raindrops hitting my arms. I work it last weekend and it was great, breathable, light, and kept be dry and warm from the wind & rain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent jacket for wind and water I love this jacket. Is very lightweight for use in the backcountry, but great for everything from a wet windy city day to early spring kayaking. It's waterproof, wind proof, and just so comfortable a fit. Long enough that I can sit without it riding up to my waist which is great in the boat. I'd definitely purchase it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best rain jacket I've ever had! I got this as a gift for backpacking, as I lost my old rain jacket somewhere while travelling. I've worn it around town and on a couple of backpacking trips so far, and I could not be more pleased! I'm 5'11" and 140 lbs and got a small. It fits perfectly, and the sleeves are even long enough, which doesn't happen too often for me! It's completely waterproof, and I managed to stay completely dry on a very wet overnight trip recently. The jacket is so lightweight and breathable that is truly is the perfect backpacking choice!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent rain coat So far I've only got to break this jacket in around town, but I bought it for a hike up the Long Trail this summer. It's really lightweight and I love that the length comes down over the top of my pants. I'm about 5ft. 100lbs and an xs has room for warm clothes underneath.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for me. Perhaps for a hiker. I purchased this jacket and was not impressed. Perhaps it was meant for someone who uses it for hiking, but I was expecting the material to not be so "crunchy", which is probably due to the waterproof nature of it. It crinkled and reminded me of a tarp fabric, again, probably due to waterproof nature. Also, I got it in white and found that the fabric was yellowed a bit in some areas- no idea why. Fit was true to nature of North Face, so it was fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight & compact I have been wearing this jacket to work and to workout nearly every day since I bought it. It is lightweight, but provides just enough warmth and protection for unpredictable spring weather. It holds up very well in the rain too. I also like that it is so compact and folds up very small so if the weather changes, I can easily take it off, fold it up, and stick it in my purse or backpack without it taking up much space at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from replacement for a best loved jacket I wanted to replace my Ventura jacket from 2008. it could be tightened at the waist, was wind and waterproof, 29 inches long. I tried on line to match but the Fastpak is not windproof. it is the right length and lightweight easy pack jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and ready to travel The jacket is super light. I'm going to take it on a trip to the Galapagos Islands. Need water proof yet light. This jacket should do the trick. Be aware it is very thin. I got white, as not to attract bugs, and it is see through.

Does this jacket have inside pockets? Is it really waterproof?

Asked by: Sheila
Thanks for reaching out to us. The The North Face Women's Venture Fastpack Jacket has North Face's patented DryVent 2.5L material which makes the item waterproof. The Fastpack Jacket does not have any inside pockets. We hope this helps.

Would this be a good jacket to wear over let's say the North Face windwear jacket...to the snow?

Asked by: Cicee26
Hiya Cicee26, thanks for your question! This jacket is essentially a rain coat. It is better suited for the spring and fall but you can wear it over anything to help keep you dry. It won't protect you from torrential rain or heavy snow, but it's fine for light to medium rain and powdery snow. I wouldn't recommend it for snow sports because the nylon material is very thin and not designed for that purpose. It has a slim fit so if you plan to layer underneath it, you might want to size up. Hope this helps!

I'm going on a long distance hike over 3 seasons, do you know how this might hold up for that sort of venture if layered?

Asked by: Ashley
Hiya, thanks for your question! This Venture Jacket is perfect for that sort of venture! It is a essentially a rain jacket with an active fit. It is meant as a top shell to layer over other articles of clothing, like a fleece or base layer. You would probably want a more robust jacket for wet winter snow but it is a great choice for 3 season wear. Hope this helps!
