Rated 4 out of 5 by from beautiful but not 600 fill power warm The jacket looks great, fits me (6 feet tall, 160 lbs.) perfectly with sleeves just the right length. Features like zipper pull and pockets are fine, keeps the wind out too. It's the expected warmth that's not there. I first wore the jacket outside, 43F, no wind, light base layer and my arms were Cold. Once I started hiking it held in my warmth just fine, but standing or sitting in a cold place it does not retain my body heat. That said, I've increased the thickness of the underlayers and the jacket is fine. I haven't hiked with it and a backpack yet, nor taken a bike ride. Will I wear it skiing? Can I get enough layers on under it? I'll know in another month.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most Excellent Jacket! I bought this jacket in the mint blue and it's a beautiful color. Everyone loves it and they are not afraid to tell me! I ordered the jacket online after checking the sizing chart on the website. The size is spot on and fits perfectly. The sleeves are long enough and cover my wrists. The jacket is very light weight and at first I didn't think it would be very warm - it weighs about as much as a windbreaker. Now that the weather here in Wisconsin has gotten colder, the jacket has proven itself to be warmer than I ever thought it could be. It hasn't gotten below zero here yet but I think that wearing a sweater underneath the jacket will keep me plenty warm.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Would be perfect except for plus-size issue Like, I suspect, many plus-sized women, I have been searching for an ultra-light-weight travel jacket. Having ordered and returned several, I really don't think there are any out there. North Face, I bet you could sell a bushel of them. This jacket came recently and I loved the weight, the color and the way it looked. Then I tried it on and was very sad. It fit perfectly in the shoulders, sleeves and arms, but no way would it go around my hips. I don't think I'm a weirdly-shaped plus-sized woman, but you should know that our hips are a little larger than those of a teenage boy. PLEASE think about making some clothing that fits actual people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I ordered the darkest spruce color. It is a rich deep green color (unlike the balsam green) which I love, and the fabric has a bit of shine to it. I normally wear a medium in TNF, but I had to exchange for a small in this jacket. If you are between sizes, I would order down, IMO. I like the modern, fitted look which is fashionable. It is also very lightweight and thin and packs into a pocket which is great for travel or backpacking. I recently went to NYC for Christmas vacation and used this as a base layer under a wool jacket, and I was very warm. I live in the south, so it will be perfect worn alone for a Georgia winter. I love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Thermoball! I bought this for my girlfriend as a Christmas gift since she likes to wear my Thermoball vest around the house so much. She loves it and we love TNF products! Thermoball is light and warm, feels like wearing a cloud of warm air. Stylish for a puffy jacket and will still insulate even when it is wet as compared to down that doesn't. It packs into its own pocket making it easy to stow or clip to the outside of a pack or even use as a pillow when traveling. The medium fits her shoulders and chest well but is a little big at the waist since she is athletic curvy, 5'-4"/34DD/135-140lbs. That is ok though since you want to be able to layer comfortably under these as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A lot of compliments! However.... Overall, In my opinion its a very nice jacket. However, it is not as warm as a down, but warmer than a leather, wool, poly-filled jacket. I get a lot of compliments on the jacket too! I think if you wanted it for skiing or working outdoors in the snow you would need to wear layers for it to be extra warm. It runs smaller than the regular 3/4 coats, especially around the hip and waist. I purchased in a size large but it was too big so I returned it for a medium. I believe its design to react to body heat because when I am in the car it can be too warm. Nevertheless, I brought it, and I am keeping it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this jacket I bought this jacket a few weeks ago and have used it for skiing, hiking, wearing as a walking jacket and under a rain coat as a warmth layer. I've also squished it all into its pocket to take as an extra piece in case I needed it. I've loved how comfortable, warm, and easy to move in it is. I'm 5'8" and 130lbs and I bought the small and it fits great although slightly less fitted around my middle than ideal, but works great with a sweater and a base layer under or just over a tee. I would definitely by this jacket again. Also, I bought the men's version for my two teenage boys and am just as happy with them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feel It This jacket is warm, comfortable, well made, true-to-size, and much better looking on a woman than on its own, as in the online catalog's photo. The diamond stitching pattern allows the fabric to drape around curves in a very flattering way. How many winter sports jackets show-off the feminine figure? The light-weight Thermoball material fascinates people everywhere, evoking multiple requests for feeling the sleeve. The fabric really is amazing. It's so light, yet retains body heat. The head-turning warm olive green is gorgeous! I'm extremely satisfied with my Thermoball jacket.

Is the sizing for the Thermoball the same as the Denali 2? I have the Denali 2 in small.  Should I get a small or medium?

Asked by: Gina2000
Hiya Gina2000, thanks for your question! The Thermoball Jacket has a regular fit, while the Denali 2 has a relaxed fit... so it is more roomier. I am between a Small and Medium in The North Face clothing and I would go with the Medium. Hope this helps!

Last winter I bought thermaball hoodie in Medium - fits great.  Should I expect the non-hoodie to fit as well or would I need a large

Asked by: nonie
Thanks for the question! Both the hooded, and non-hooded Thermoball Jackets have a Regular Fit. I would also get a Medium in the Full Zip Jacket. Hope this helps!

Is there any difference between this jacket and the TNF Women's Thermoball Hoodie besides the hood? Also, what is the difference between this jacket and the TNF Women's Stretch Thermoball Jacket?

Asked by: Elise
HIya, thanks for your question! The hood is really the only difference between the hoodie and jacket. The Stretch Thermoball is designed to be able to stretch and be more durable than the regular Thermoball. It would be better as a mid layer for skiing or other activities. Hope this helps!

What's warmer for casual activity: TNF Thermoball or Patagonia down sweater? Which is more fitted?

Asked by: Jbadger
Thanks for the question! The Down Sweater will hands down be warmer than the Thermoball. The Down Sweater has 800-fill goose down, where the Thermoball is insulated with Primaloft - which mimics 600-fill down. Hope this helps!

Is this jacket zip in compatible?

Asked by: wonderbread
Hiya Wonderbread, thanks for your question! No, this jacket is not zip-in compatible. The only styles that zip into a TriClimate shell are the Nuptse 2 Vest and the Denali Jacket. You can still layer the two jackets but it won't zip in. The North Face has TriClimate options with the Thermoball jacket. Check some of them out here: http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_The-North-Face-Women-s-Thermoball-Triclimate-Jacket_10317125_10208_10000001_-1_ And... http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_The-North-Face-Women-s-ThermoBall-Triclimate-Jacket_10284869_10208_10000001_-1_ Hope this helps!
