Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing warmth Bought this coat to keep warm from the blustery winter. The coat is very warm and light, not heavy and bulky like most winter coats. Great purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm & Cozy! I am 64, 5' 5", weigh 155 lbs, have an athletic build with no waist, the arms are almost too long and the coat hits right at the knee, I chose a size large and its a good fit for me, not snug & not too loose. I've been wearing the original brown NF parka/coat for at least 10 years, had the zipper replaced a few years back and it has served me really well in the northern Michigan winters. I like using the hood over my NF cable beanie for added warmth when its snowing or went the wind's howling.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No My family has had coats from north face our entire life but lately we have noticed that the quality has gone down a lot I own a miss metro and my husband a triclimate jacket we upgraded last year.. his fleece jacket is in horrible condition and my miss metro the feathers are coming out!!! My daughter spilled some juice in it and I washed it and dried as per the instructions with tennis balls and all... the feathers have clumped up and the stiched packets are half empty... the weather has been sooooo cold when I called the north face store they said we have to send it in to check and it would take 7 weeks ... I have only one jacket and I Dono what to do.. they have life time warranty !! I had hoped for some solution but I can't wait that long in Michigan winters!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best! I love this coat! I live in MN where it gets extremely cold. This is my go-to jacket in the frigid weather. I've had one in the tan color for a few years and now I'm onto ordering another in black.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm coat! I bought this coat to wear in NW Ohio for cold winters- it fits great! I love that it is lightweight and comes down to my knees. I bought an XXL and I am Large chested. It gives a nice shape without being bulky. I am 5’8”. Highly recommend!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, yet light wgt. Purchased for 16yo granddaughter who’s 6’1 - very long arms & legs. This jacket is perfect fit. She’s thrilled with her Christmas present!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features I bought this a month ago and I'm so glad I did. Its definitely a woman's parka. which is good cause i bought it as a a gift for my woman. but when no one is looking, I sometimes wear it around the house.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Warm Enough but Stylish There does not feel to be enough down in this coat. My arms were cold, then I realized that the coat does not have sleeve cuffs! This is a very poor design for a cold weather coat. Also, the zippers in the pockets are not comfortable when your hands are in them. It is lightweight so the best use for it would be for warmer weather wear, over 40 degrees. Now that I'm stuck with it, Ill have to wear heavy wool clothing beneath it.

What is the difference between this coat and the Metropolis coat? Thanks!

Asked by: Sbardt
Hiya, thanks for your question! Both jackets are similar in many ways, however, there are a few differences. The Miss Metro has 1111 grams of insulation while the Metropolis has 850 grams. The materials differ from polyester iridescent taffeta and satin twill lining on the Miss Metro to a polyester/nylon blend exterior and 100% nylon lining on the Metropolis. The design is different, as the Metropolis has contoured quilting around the waist for a more fitted look. Overall, the Miss Metro edges out the Metropolis in weight, materials and style. Hope this helps!

What does TNF Black mean? I'm looking for more of a matte look. Is the TNF Black matte or shiny?

I'm 5'8, 133 lbs. Super small on top, a little wider hips. I'd like to get the small but am worried about the arm length. I wear a small in most things. I plan on wearing it with a single layer underneath.

Asked by: addie274
Hello addie274! The sleeve on size small measures about 33.25 inches (from the center back, at the collar, to the cuff), which is a bit longer than some other style coats. I would give the small a try! Thanks for your question!

I am 5'5" and 140lbs. I am trying to decide between the small and medium. I am pretty small up top, but a little bit larger in the hip area. What would you recommend?

Asked by: wisco
Hiya Wisco, thanks for your question! My office mate is a similar size and she tried on this jacket (for science) in a size small. It fits but it is tight and the arms are a little short. She recommends the medium. Hope this helps!

I have short arms.  Will ms metro large have too long arms. I am 5-2 and weigh 140

Asked by: Barbu
Hiya Barbu, thanks for your question! Based on your description, I would suggest a size medium. The sleeve length for medium is 34 inches, while the sleeve length for the large is 34.75 inches. (By the way, the sleeve length is from the prominent bone at center back neck, across the shoulder, over the bent elbow to the center of the wrist bone.) Hope this helps!
