Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great multi-use pack! I'm a PhD student who also teaches undergraduates, and living in Colorado, I hike almost every other weekend. This pack somehow manages to fit in wherever I am! The relatively slim silhouette and clean lines lets it fit right in with an office/work environment, and its pockets and organization also work for travel or school!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small/light be big enough for any commute I commute by train and use this bag every day- It is incredibly comfortable and light enough for my 5'4" frame. The only caviat I have is my other North Face backpack (while much larger and heavier) has many more pockets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect backpack!! Highly Recommend I wanted a backpack that wouldn't be to big or uncomfortable to haul around campus and I was worried at first that this one would be too small but it ended up being the perfect size!! My 13'' Macbook Air fits right inside the laptop sleeve which is fleece lined, a big bonus because it ensures my laptop is even safer. The backpack itself fits snugly on my shoulders and is very light which makes it no problem to take from class to class. The main compartment fits a ton more than you think it would, it's perfect for books. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for the perfect backpack for school or college!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functional I use this for my laptop to carry to and from work and airport travel. Unfortunately the bag dropped from a hook and my laptop suffered damage-the laptop compartment seems well cushioned-so the impact must have been just right. i really enjoy the bag and the pocket variety. Clean design is versatile and fun. Lastly the comfort and fit are excellent with perfect strap support.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An Excellent Pack That Deserves an Update Overall this is a great pack: versatile, well balanced, and able to carry a wide selection of things for urban life. I carry a laptop (currently 12 inch X series thinkpad, but about to switch to 14 inch T series, a friend's fit no problem), and a stack of documents (anywhere from 30-200 pages or a book or two) in the main compartment. In the secondary compartment I keep my daily kit (toothbrush/paste, lotion, bandaids cuz I'm clumsy) multiple key cards (attached to the built in lanyard, plus one of those retractable string things, so I can pull it out, card in, and let it go, having it retract back into the bag), foldable studio headphones (concentration and commute), a few pieces of fruit or other snacks, a 6x9 notebook, a USB battery (for recharging cell phone when necessary), laptop power brick/cord and sometimes I'll toss in an extra shirt or a mini umbrella, but this can cut into snack space. There are cash, cards, and pens (things for quick access) in the top mini pocket. Keys in the small pocket left bottom pocket, a water bottle in the bottle sleeve. My phone goes in the back sleeve when not in my hand, sometimes ID badge there or clipped to the shoulder strap, or in the top mini pocket. This is everything I use on the daily. I've used this bag for a short 2 day trip by replacing the documents and snacks with extra clothes.and my cell phone charger. After one year of use I have noted the following: It doesn't have supports but is cut very well so looks and feels good most of the time, though now is starting to fatigue. It fits comfortably when filled between 40% and 90% capacity, but can feel saggy with less. It becomes extremely inconvenient when nearing or at capacity. Things fall out easily and are difficult to access. It is small enough that this is common. The elastic sections (bottle pocket and rear pocket) haven't held up well over the year. The pack is slightly too small in every dimension. a 10-20% increase size would be ideal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Compact, could be bigger I've had my bag for just over a year. I love the style and sleek silhouette. Would be nice if the key holder were more easily accessible. With my 13" computer in (I put it in its own sleeve, then in the backpack's sleeve), it's hard to squeeze in my lunchbox. Instead of putting my sunglasses in the top pouch (which I think it is designed for), I put my phone there b/c it's thin, and I put my sunglasses in the front zippered compartment. Items in the top and front zippered compartments encroach on the main compartment space, so it's hard to actually put items in the main space and get to the bottom. The ?nylon divider material between the 2 compartments just ripped on me today, which I am bummed about b/c I don't think it could be fixed for a decent price if I have to ship it to another province to have it looked at. Would be nice if the front compartment had some more elastic along the edge to help prevent things from falling out

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must Buy I love everything about this backpack! I bought this backpack for school, everyday use, traveling, and hiking. The green color is my favorite. This backpack is on the smaller side but I'm petite so it's perfect for me.

- + Size Guide

The North Face Women's Packs

SIZE One Size X-Small / Small Medium / Large
Torso Size (Adjustable) N/A" 13 - 18" 15 - 20"
Torso Size (Fixed) 15 - 18" 14 - 17" 16 - 19"
Hipbelt Size 24 - 35" 24 - 30" 30 - 36"

HOW to MEASURE TORSO SIZE
1. Put your chin to your chest and feel for the big bone protruding on your neck at the top of your spine. That's the C7 vertebra.

2. Feel your hip bone, the top part of this is your iliac crest. Find the spot on your back that is level with the top of this crest.

3. Have someone measure the distance between these two points, following the contours of your spine.

HOW to MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE
1. Measure around your body where the hipbelt will rest while you hike. This should be just above your iliac crest.

NOTES
The size info above is for The North Face technical and backpacking packs. Day packs and work / school packs are offered in One Size, and feature adjustable straps to fit an array of sizes.

Women's packs feature a women's-specific design for a better fit and more comfortable carry on smaller female torsos.
