Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely comfortable and nice fit I recently bought the small and it has met my expectations. I am 5'2 about 110lbs and I really like how It's long enough to cover my hips and bum but not to long. It seems to regulate my body temperature we'll, i wore it when it was pretty cold with a fleece and I was super warm. I also wore it with a t shirt when it was cold but warm in the sun. I am generally outdoors hiking and its been great. I like the taupe and red, it's a nice change from black. The image here portrays the color we'll. it's a good grey-green. Only flaw I see is that the hood is not removable

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't beat this NF jacket I've had my old, trusty NF down jacket for close to 10 years now, or thereabouts, and have worn it religiously every winter. I'll still hold onto it for sure but it's getting to that point where I needed a backup & the Fossil Ridge was definitely the way to go. The style I currently have & this one are very similar & this was definitely a big attraction. This design for a women's down parka was streamlined nicely, not a lot of poofiness & with plenty of room for layering. The purchase & delivery from Moosejaw was effortless & the price was definitely right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection! I bought this coat a short time ago. The reason being, that I wanted a slightly longer version. I wanted something that kept my back warm when I was in the car. Shorter coats always leave my back exposed and in winter, that's not comfortable. I found the best price for this coat at Moosejaw and got it! Boy am I glad I did!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I waited a couple months to write a review about this parka, hoping I'd get a chance to wear it for an extended amount of time in cold temperatures. Unfortunately, I have not yet so I can't comment about that. It's lightweight and is the perfect length for me, covering my hips and bum. I like the double ended zipper and use it often when driving. The only cons I've found (hence 4 stars) is that the zipper can be a little tricky to unzip completely when taking the parka off, and there is a seam in the inside of the sleeves that ends with a corner right above my inner wrists, and is quite irritating when I'm wearing short sleeves (which I do to work). Had they extended the seam all the way down the sleeve to the cuff, it would eliminated the irritating corner. Overall, I'm happy with this parka. I ordered a size Medium, am 5' 5" tall, 140 lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for snow and hiking! I bought this jacket for a trip to Sequoia National Park during Christmas holiday. It was snowing all weekend and I was totally cozy and was able to stay warm in the snow all day. Since then I've taken it to Joshua Tree and some So. Cal mountain hikes in the winter (about 30-50 degrees) and it's been awesome!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Warm and Fits Perfectly I bought this in grey. It is very warm. It has been snowing almost every day and has been in the teens for temperatures. I love this coat! So glad I bought it. The size fits as described. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome winter coat This parka is lightweight but very warm, great for cold winters. The length hits just below the hip. It's true to size. Highly recommend!

Where does the end of the coat fall (ex:mid thigh)?

Asked by: Emma
The above answer is not correct. I researched this information before purchasing this coat, as the above answer didn't seem accurate to me. The hip area for women is typically defined as the widest point, around the booty. I just received this coat, and the end of it is falls further down than described above. I'm 5' 5", ordered a medium, and it falls an inch or two below my bottom. It reaches my the end of my thumbs if I stand with my hands at my sides. Not quite mid thigh, but slightly above. I'd recommend looking at some pictures of women wearing this coat to get the best idea of where it falls.

I need this coat to walk my 122 lb malamute. I have two hip replacements and the cold really bugs them. Need it to cover them and seat.  I'm 5 6" 116lbs will this do the job?

Asked by: Zolo
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us. I used to have a 130 lb malamute named 'Knuckle-Lover'. Thank you so much for including your height, but without accurate measurements of other parts of your body, I can't say how well the jacket will cover your hips. But I can come up with some basic calculations. Based on your height (5'6" equaling 66") your head is most likely 9.4173228" in length. Using that, I can infer that your neck (on average) is 4.3", making neck and head 13.7" (rounding down, of course). Using that plus the length of the jacket's center back (29") we come up with 42.7", which would leave us 23.3" of your height left, which would be your legs. Now while it's stated that 32" is the average leg length for a woman of your height, a lot of people prefer using the "45%" ratio, meaning, your legs are 45% of your entire height. Using this ratio, your legs would be 29.7" in length. I'm sure you've noticed that in both of those measurements, the jacket would be coming down lower, thus, covering your hips and seat!!! Math is power! Hope this helped you out!

hey im also wondering about the length of this coat (fossil ridge parka) in a size SMALL. what is the back length (not including hood) & possibly from shoulder seam straight down to hem in the front. thanks im looking for an actual measurement.

Asked by: becky
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us. Lucky for you, I happened to bring my measuring tape today! For the back length, that's going to be 28 1/2 inches and for the front, shoulder seam to the front hem, that's going to be 26 inches. Hope this helped you out!
