Rated 5 out of 5 by from Battle tested and approved I bought this jacket to take with me to the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. I am a member of the media and have been spending most of my time outside in freezing temperatures and heavy icy winds. This jacket has kept me *very* toasty warm. I am 5’4” and about 115 lbs and am generally pretty cold on a regular basis. This jacket creates a very nice barrier bubble between you and the elements. I can’t say enough good things about my experience in this jacket. It shielded me from the wind and cold *and* I’ve been getting a lot of compliments about how cute it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Winter sucks, but this jacket helps. The first time I saw this jacket, I knew I had to have it. I have a different North Face Parka, which I wear like a robe, but a robe that I cannot wear if it's soaking wet or snowing too much. I had been searching for a waterproof parka and I finally found this beauty. It's awesome! So warm, really cute and most importantly, waterproof. Actually most importantly, cute.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great coat, stupid hood This coat is fabulously warm, amazingly water repellent and the sleeves are just right for my awkwardly long arms. Two things are slightly annoying. The hood is too small and doesn’t cover the front of my head or keep my ears warm. The fur trim is removable, and I have mine off, so it might be slightly better if you left it on. I just wear a hat with it and it’s ok. The part around your neck is very tall and stiff so you need to have your chin tucked behind it or unzip it a little. All in all it’s a fabulous coat for staying warm and dry with a very attractive shape and not too bulky!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Midwest winters Great fit, perfect protection from wind, snow and sleet. Living in the Midwest the winter can be brutal and so far this coat has been an awesome purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Chicago Winters! I bought this coat for my wife, since her old coat was not doing the job in terms of warmth. This one fits the bill. It’s warm, stylish, and she loves it. Great purchase!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid coat, nice fit Only issue I have is that the coat is very stiff when it’s zipped up all the way. If I don’t let it rest over my face it kind of ouches up into my chin instead of draping onto my neck.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and beautiful but a little snug! I bought this coat after learning I'd be moving from Texas to Minneapolis. I wanted warm and stylish coat at an affordable price and I definitely got that with this coat. The red is a beautiful bright shade and definitely stands out among all the black coats out there. My only complaint is that this coat runs super snug in my opinion. I'm 5'11 and usually a solid size 6 and S/M. I got the medium hoping to have a little extra room for layering but nope - it fits like a glove! I would size up next time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super warm for this Chicago weather! I bought this jacket a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it. I was having a hard time picking the size, I am 5’ 4”, 140lbs and chest 36C, I ended up going with the medium, the length in the arms is just perfect and it reaches just above my knees, I think a large would have been a bit roomier for me in the torso but too big everywhere else. I can still wear a thick sweater and scarf so overall I’m glad I went with the medium. I have received many compliments on the navy color and the fit due to the cinching waist. I am also that one person who is always freezing and I never feel cold with this jacket despite the freezing temperatures! worth while!

I'm 5' 10" weigh 145 what size is best for me?

Asked by: Debi
Hiya Debi, thanks for your question! Based on your description, I would suggest a medium or large. The large might be the better option because the sleeves are longer and you can wear heavy layers underneath if necessary. Hope this helps!

What is the difference between Arctic II and Far Northern, in both fit and warmth? Are either slim fit? I'm 5' 7" and 130 pounds, usually between a small and a medium. What size would I wear?

Asked by: AndreaNYC
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Y'know....I might have to restrict the amount of questions allowed in this feature....the last guy asked SE7EN !!! And they were all about Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt. Weird. So, for these two, they'll both have the same insulation (550 fill down) and both have the same fit (regular, not slim). The main differences will be that the Arctic has DryVent 2L waterproofing, it weighs a bit more than the Northern (45.9 oz to 40.1 oz) and runs just a little bit longer than the Northern (37.7" to the Northern's 36"). Both of these jackets run pretty true to it would all depend on what you normally wear. If you usually wear a large...then I'd say get a large. Hope this helps you out! Hugsies.

I just moved to Minnesota and I need a super warm coat because I just moved there from FL. I just want to know how warm this coat will keep me so I don't completely freeze..... will it keep me warm?

Asked by: BB13
Thanks for the question! Unfortunately, The North Face does not temperature rate their products. With that being said, the Arctic Parka II is waterproof, windproof, and 550 goose down-fill - which is pretty darn warm. It is a staple piece around here for the Michigan winters. A comparable item to check out is the Patagonia Women's Tres 3-in-1 Parka. I included a link below. Hope this helps a little!

Is this usable for skiing?

Asked by: Amelia
Hiya Amelia, thanks for your question! I would find this parka way too warm for skiing. It is intended for casual use in very cold weather and does not have all the bells and whistles that a ski jacket has. If you are looking for a ski jacket that can also be warm winter jacket, try a Tri-Climate Jacket like the The North Face Women's Cross Boroughs Triclimate Jacket ( Hope this helps!

Hi... Just trying to figure out which size to order.. I am 5’2 120-122 lbs..would a size S fit wearing a sweater or a size M be better?

Asked by: Richiegirl01
Thanks for the question! Based on just your height & weight, you would be a size Small. The Arctic Parka II does have a Regular Fit - so it won't be too tight and it won't be too loose. If you plan on always wearing heavy layers underneath - such as a sweater, then you might want to go with the Medium. Just keep in mind that the sleeves may be too long. You can always order both sizes to try on at home and then return the one that doesn't fit. If you decide to do that, just let us know and we can get you a pre-paid return label I hope this helps a little!

What’s the down weight in this parka? Is it white goose or grey goose down? Thank you

Asked by: Mountaineer
Hiya Mountaineer, thanks for your question! This parka has 550 down fill. The manufacturer doesn't provide information about the type of goose that is harvested for this product. Hope this helps!
