Rated 2 out of 5 by from not the best pack in my opinion so the backpack itself is well made but it is very uncomfortable and not breathable at all. a few issues in my opinion are the lack of features like a floating top lid and no mesh pocket for drying stuff out. because of these issues it was not the right pack for me. i took this pack on a day hike and kept it very clean but could not return it but at the end i ended up getting an osprey aether

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lots of space, but uncomfortable. Took this pack on a 33 mile hike on the Virginia AT and then a super easy going 15 mile trip in Maine this past summer. I really like all of easy access pockets and side access zipper, but for the life of me I could not adjust this pack to be comfortable for me. I'm 5'2" and around 115 lbs and I got the size s/m. I tried so many different shoulder, waist, and torso adjustments and it would never stay in place on my hips unless I had the waist so tight it hurt. It always ends up sliding a bit down my butt after a few miles, giving me bad hip pains. It just never felt very secure. Also, the mesh on the back and shoulder straps gave me abrasion burns if I wore a sports bra or tank top. I don't know, maybe it's just my body type and the s/m is still too big for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good - But Poor Ventilation I bought this backpack to wear for walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain. There is plenty to like about this backpack. It fit everything I wanted to bring and then some. It was comfortable and good for long treks. However, if I had one area where I feel the Terra 65 let me down was "ventilation" - as in, there is none. I'm a fairly hairy fellow and I realize that this causes me to sweat a fair amount on long walks. Because of this, I wear merino wool and synthetic shirts with greater moisture-wicking properties. Well, all the moisture wicking in the world means nothing if it gets wicked from the shirt, hits the back of the backpack and goes nowhere from there. My wife, on the other hand, used another brand of backpack that had webbing and a gap between her back and the back of her backpack and she had no problems whatsoever. So, if you're going to be using this backpack in hotter, more humid climates, it may not be for you. But if you're in more temperate or cooler locations, then you should have no complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. Needs to be modified in my opinion though. I Love this pack however I love it more after making some changes. Here is what I did and why. I Installed thin, inner roll-up pouches along the inside seams, by hand sewing. Then cut the pack down each side, yea I know I was scared but I did not want to spend $600 on a new pack without trying so I took a chance and cut it down each side and took to a seamstress and installed ykk zippers down the sides.$30.00. The pack previously has a access zipper on one side and it did work fine and this fix does not need to be done at all but in my situation I need full access and a little more individual storage. When I lay the pack down, open it then I can roll out the pouches and access what gear I need. They are durable on the back side and lay on the ground creating a whole protected area. I can move faster now and more efficiently. I did all this because I did notice this pack was hard for me to dig through quietly and effortlessly while hunting, photography and just being in the woods in general. It seamed like things just got buried without any separation. However before I did this I did use smaller pouches and such to achieve this and it worked fine. With hunting and just wanting to see wildlife you have to be still and quiet. Now this pack can be used for travel a whole lot easier also, I can still fit the same amount of gear in it and keep separate the things I know I won't need at a glance or grab, can lay it out fully open, I have carried awkward loads now like a load sling type bag with the already installed side buckle straps. It is probably not covered under warranty any more but it is even more solid and usable now. Before I did this I noticed i did not use it as much as I would like even though I knew it was a great pack. Now I use it even more. If they design one like this I will buy when this wears out if ever.. I can get pictures if someone needs them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from North Face continues to impress I finally broke down and started converting to a more minimalist approach with my gear (I have been clinging to my tried and trusty 30year old Kelty frame pack) my back and legs are so thankful. I tried on a lot of more expensive packs but thought for comfort, price and reputation this pack would be sufficient. Well it has proven to be an excellent addition. Great fit, simple design, plenty of room for a 3 or 4 day trip. I also bought the Storm lite solo tent and I am very impressed with the Note Face brand. I am sure I will get years of use from these products. (Never found a use for the bottom zipper access)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough and Versatile, Build for Expeditions I wanted a backpack that's trong and versatile, lightweight yet has all the bells and whistles. Built for expeditions and designed to last with lifetime warranty, The Terra 65 was the answer to my JMT thru hike I'm planing for this summer. I use the backpack on almost daily basis for training and I couldn't be happier with the suspension system. Very comfortable and centered on your body it feels like it can handle a winter Alpine Climb with ease. The best thing I love about this pack is the pockets and loops... The North Face thought of everything and probably had the long distance trail hiker in mind as well. Perfect for weekend getaways and thru hikes, The Terra 65 pack is my choice for Mountain Trail Adventure. #neverstopexploring

Does this pack have trekking pole loops? I see ice axe loops in the picture, but I didn't see any trekking pole loops. I can't get a definitive answer from looking through the features list for this pack on multiple websites (including The North Face).

Asked by: Trojan714
Hey there, TNF Terra 65 Pack features two tool keepers that will hold either your trekking poles or ice axes when you need your hands to be free.
