The North Face Summit Series Men's L6 Jacket is a down jacket for wrapping up in warmth in the alpine. The higher you go, the crazier the weather. The L6 is the 6th layer available in the series so you can make it to the top. Wear it on the belay or pile it on top of all your other layers, either way the 800 fill down will keep weight down and warmth way up. When it's not in use, it has the ability to compress down, so you can jam it into your pack. The exterior fabric has been engineered using FuseForm™ construction; combining plain weave nylon and ripstop nylon seamlessly for a higher durability. Snuggle in and stay toasty, even on the mountain.

FEATURES of the The North Face Summit Series Men's L6 Jacket

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MEN'S L6 DOWN JACKET THE BEST jacket I have ever bought! Made this purchase for a trip to Alaska, since we would be in severe cold weather - the jacket was perfect!! I was never cold even on the adventure up the Dalton Highway to Coldfoot and Wiseman! We stayed at Coldfoot Camp (featured on the Iceroad Truckers show) and viewed the Northern Lights in Wiseman in -27 degree weather. Then I used it on a dogsled ride with the temperature being -32 degrees!! This coat is amazing!!! I would highly recommend it and I would purchase it again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Why dark colours? Why design a Summit Series jacket without colour options for mountain activities. These camo colours makes you invisible while ice climbing or moutaineering.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like the jacket but I love everything about this jacket but it is a bit bulky that I can not drive with this jacket on. head cover is too bulky for seating in the car.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would recommend! I've had this jacket for a week. So excited to battle the cold. I was looking for a single layer that was warm enough to add over a t-shirt that could keep me warm through the Minnesota winters. January is almost here and I am not worried what so ever about staying warm. This thing is crazy warm. Pockets everywhere. Massive insulated hood. Durable construction. This jacket is fairly bulky which for me is just fine. A little over a week ago the temperatures were negative 25 with a wind chill south of -40. I believe this will handle that with ease. I like to think of this jacket as the bigger, better version to the Immaculator Parka.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of the best! To put this into context, I am an avid outdoorsman, and own a vast array of outdoor gear, predominantly TNF, MHW & Rab. In terms of down jackets, I think I own some of the best, the TNF Himalayan Parka, and the MHW Nilas, as well as the Summit Series L3 and Steep Series Corefire. The L6 is very warm, fits well, and is very stylish.. Is it as warm as either the Himalayan or Nilas? No... That is to be expected with the Himalayan, but I did expect it to match up to the Nilas, and it doesn't, but only in terms of warmth. The Nilas has a lot more 850 fill v 800 fill down, but it is a smaller jacket than the L6, and is very very compressible, so I do not see the end user using them for the same thing. The L6 is big, solid, durable, doesn't 'leak' down like so many others do and is a very, very warm jacket. I am a big fan of it and can easily look past any minor shortcomings.. Except, my wife also has one and has discovered after 12 months of use that the main zipper can get stuck on the draft collar under the zip, causing damage! There should be some reinforced material behind the zip to prevent this...? Hence, a reluctant 4 stars only...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not warm enough I bought this jacket because I needed a new winter jacket. I work outside often for 12+ hours at night and figured it would do the trick. I don't move around that much while working. Lots of handy pockets and feels warm when you're inside. Very stylish. But step outside even in -10C and don't expect to stay warm very long. The cold easily seeps through the neck and into the hand pockets. Layering helps but not enough to generate any sort of heat. I had to cinch the hood down as it's too big without a helmet on (I know it's a belay jacket), but of course it restricts your field of view. I am returning it for the Himalayan Parka. I'm disappointed since it's a Summit Series jacket. I also wish there was a L7 Gortex wind/rain shell to fit overtop. I wish there was an XL. 6'5" 225 lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The warmest jacket I've ever owned! I own a lot of North Face products, but the Men's L6 Down Jacket, is by far my favorite! Love all the different pockets & even the hood makes for a nice headrest. Lightweight, warm and super comfy. I work and play in some of the coldest places on Earth, but The North Face always keeps me warm and dry, no matter the conditions.

If I plan on using the L6 jacket with all the other layers do I need to get an xL instead of a large?

Asked by: Nickfergi
Hiya Nickfergi, thanks for your question! Unfortunately, this jacket is not available from the manufacturer in size XL, so your only option would be a large. It runs true-to-size but you should be able to layer underneath. I would give the large a try. Hope this helps!
