Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cool but too small I owned previous model with great experiences. This is the the shell for everything for 4 seasons, I just love added new pockets and design. However, I had to returned because new model cuts so small which mames layering impossible.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad but not great Overall decent jacket. Only got it cause I got a very good deal on it. Upgraded from the fuseform progressor jacket due to poor fitting size issues. That's jacket repels water like crazy. Pros: somewhat warm, stylist, bombproof, repels water, a lot of pockets. The water repels off so much better than compared to my arcteryx or marmot goretex jackets. Cons: main zipper is kind of weak for such a robust jacket, only time will tell Hood could have one more cord for fine tune adjustment Northface size is very off compared to other brand (arcteryx, marmot, mountain hardware). Small is way too tight and medium is too big but both size, under arm area is tight. I normally wear a small but the medium on this jacket is smaller than the standards medium which was a good thing. I couldn't even close the zippers on the small. The front could be 1-2 inches shorter and just have a 29-30 in drop tail. It feels like 30in all around which makes accessing front pant pockets hard. The pockets are definitely not pack compatible, the hip straps goes over the bottom 1/3 of pockets. Maybe it's me but my body shape is pretty standard. I would probably not recommend it a friend unless they got a great deal like I did.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fit is Snug, Hardcore Winter Shell for Cold Temps Killer jacket, fit is snug though. I exchanged it for the Progressor lightweight shell for what I am trying to do. This shell is for very cold temps, heavy duty and not very breathable with the original gore tex. But would be a great winter mountaineering jacket. Just not four season and would be hot in spring or fall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, simple shell. Great all around shell. Maybe cut a bit small for layering. Much smaller than older/other NF "L" size shells. Earthier color scheme (green).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sickest North Face Jacket Ever!!! Been buying North Face jackets for 20 some odd years and let me tell you, this is the bee's knees. Form, fit, and just absolutely the most beautiful jacket to ever grace the elements. Although I got a 2015 L5 that in my opinion is the far superior color combo than its predecessor. None the less I cant wait to see where the future of the north face's fresh product design will go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket First of all I have to say that the Northface warranty and warranty department were great! I had a Summit jacket that was about two years old and the pocket zipper broke on it and I sent it in for free repair and got it back in less than two weeks. It broke a second time and The warranty department sent me a free shipping label, but repair would not fix an issue a second time, so they offered me a voucher and then sent me the new version of the Summit (L5). Wow, what a great upgraded jacket. I loved my old Summt, but this one is definitely an improvement. Excellent wareproof design, tough material, and comfortable for me. I wear it as a rain jacket and use it for backpacking and other extreme outdoor activities. I used it hiking in several days of rain and it kept me dry. It's great as a shell when skiing. The chest pocket is a little shallow but the inside pockets are deep, but have no zippers. The front zipper tends to be a little hard to close because the rubber waterproof zipper material. I found it easier to close by pulling the zipper out as it goes up. The material is a bit stiff and it doesn't roll up as easily, but loosens with wear. It also runs small because i am fairly slim at 6'1" and 185 pounds, and the XL fits me well and not a bit baggy. I had a chance to try a large and it was very tight on me. I generally wear a large. Pricy jacket, and it's not your run of the mill parka, and if you are a person like me that likes good, high quality equipment that will work for every day use to extreme activities, this jacket fits the bill.
