Rated 1 out of 5 by from extremely disappointed In short, I was disappointed with this tent and cannot recommend it. I will be returning it. My chief complaints are as follows, in order of severity: • No part of this tent seems waterproof. On the third use of this brand new tent (December 2016 version), we were just below 8,000 feet in 4' of snow. At 31 degrees F and subsequently 20 degrees F, it rained and then snowed on us for 15 hours. The rain fly stuck to the tent body. Water poured through the rain fly and then through the tent body and side walls. Water poured through the floor despite the fact we used a footprint which was smaller than the tent perimeter. Water was dripping from the ceiling vents all night as the vent poles really just push the rainfly down instead of the vent out. Condensation was an issue even with all the vents and doors open. • The listed/specified length dimension is 86". However, we measured 78" at the very most. This difference and discrepancy of 8" is a big deal for someone who is 6'-2" with gear. • Vestibules are small. • Doors are somewhat small and challenging to get in/out of for taller folk. • The rain fly is not quite taught even when staked/guyed out completely. • Pole sleeves are difficult to work with IMO, especially in wind. • The tent materials to not seem as durable as other expedition tents I have owned. The few clips the tent does use feel like they are going to tear through the tent body. • The yellow/black color scheme of the rain fly makes it look like a big bumblebee. Not a big deal if you are not allergic to bees. The features of this tent I DID like are as follows: • Interior gear pockets and reflective guy lines are quite nice. • Interior gear hanging loops are plentiful (22 total). • The tent comes with 4 snow stakes (bags) as well as a handful of aluminum non-snow stakes (but not enough for all stake/guy points). Not a big deal as most will want to do their own thing. • Due to the pole sleeves, the tent body/canopy is VERY taught. • Love the snow skirts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bombproof Defined! After much research and product testing, my wife and I finally pulled the trigger and bought this tent - NO regrets! The best 4 season backpacking tent in my humble opinion. As one reviewer stated, it is surprisingly roomy inside considering it is a 2-person tent. It comfortably sleeps two adults and one pug. The tent body uses 4 DAC poles, 2 of which pull the sidewalls out yielding more room inside and makes for a drum-tight, bombproof structure. The front vestibule uses a 5th DAC pole and offers ample storage for your gear. The rear vestibule is just big enough to keep 2 packs out of the rain. There are 25 stake points in total (again, bombproof), but only 15 DAC j-stakes are included. For an average winter backpacking trip, staking down all 25 points might be overkill, unless your definition of an average trip is in Antarctica =) There are plenty of storage pockets inside (8 total: 3 on each side & 2 up top), and plenty of ventilation (2 vents up top, vent on rear door, and full mesh option on front entrance). The zippers are color coded (red to seal, blue to vent) and zip pulls glow in the dark. Condensation galore on cold nights, so make sure you crack a vent at night and air it out in the morning. The bad? Not much really. If I had to complain about something it would be the weight (~10lbs), but my wife doesn't mind sharing the load. She says its 50/50 but its really 80/20 =) Also, at close to $600 you'd think TNF will throw in the footprint ($60) and extra stakes ($20/8), but I guess thats wishful thinking. Square gear loft ($20) is optional, but with so many pockets as is we choose to leave it at home. Set up and tear down is by no means difficult, but does require a little extra time to velcro and guy out all the points. Minor inconvenience for peace of mind and security. In summary, if you're camping in cold weather, need the BEST tent, and your wallet has extra weight to shed, then look no further. I cannot recommend this tent enough!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stable, but problems with floor and very bad service Floor leaked dis-aggregated after only 5 years. Service did not respond to Emails and Faxes (the once perfect service from TND Scotland had just moved to TNF Italy) and the official TNF Headquarters in he US just tought us to buy a new tent - they did not want to repair it, not even for cash. Got it repaired by Exped guys in Switzerland.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even surprised me My wife and I were finally going to begin winter camping. We were in the market for a tent that would suit more extreme adventures. I really like to research before I buy. It was down to the old debate of pole clips over pole sleeves. Don't let that be a factor. The Mountain 25 is easy to set up after the second time and the pole sleeves form an absolutely solid connection from tent to pole to flysheet. I was surprised just how comfortable it is for two people to live out of. The two crossover side poles really pull the sides of the tent out. The footprint dimensions fool you into thinking its going to be cramped. Its not. Its perfect for two with all winter gear spread out and hanging. So many great pockets for storage. Front vestibule is perfect for storage, cooking or sitting under with your feet resting in the dug out snow well. Self centring guylines make this tent bullet proof. If you are in the market for a great extreme location summer tent or winter shelter for two , the Mountain 25 is a win win.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid tent, a little heavy Overall, the Mountain 25 is a great tent. It's well designed, durable, and has a few smart design choices that friends continually comment on; glowing zippers, easy to set up, durable cross-braced poles and tie points, rigid stock pegs, good length & width, lots of storage pockets. My biggest complaint would be the weight, it's pretty bulky for the average backpacking trip and ideal for cooler weather. Granted, this is an all-season tent and not designed to be super light. My other complaint is that the slope of the entrance isn't well designed for people over 5'8". I'm flexible, but at 6'2" I pretty much need to crawl on my knees to get inside. I've owned it for a full two seasons and use it often in the Canadian climate. It holds up well against wind with minimal chatter. It catches a bit too much condensation, but vents easily and dries quickly. The space inside is perfect for two tall adults.
