Product Description Item No.   10317139

The North Face Men's Trevail Hoodie is a down jacket for heading into the backcountry on colder adventures. Packed with 700 fill power goose down with a 20D, 100% recycled polyester exterior fabric, you can wear it for warmth or stuff it into the hand pocket for storing in your pack. Just 14.6 ounces allows you to bring it with you, even if you're not sure, because being prepared is important. The active fit runs close to the body, preventing it from bunching extra fabric under your pack and the hood adds extra warmth over your head, when a beanie just isn't enough.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and Cozy, but watch out for feathers! Great jacket, very light and keeps you warm with a hood for your head. The only bad thing is that the jacket sheds down feathers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not quite as warm as hoped but altogether good buy I bought this for a lighter weight down to be layered with fleece and other garments, the idea to have a very flexible layering for the changeable whether in the Appalachians. Construction, fit, finish are all what I expected - quite good. I only wish it were just a bit warmer. Still, I should get good use out of it. All in all, a good product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage! Features leaking out. For as much as this garbage costs, very disappointing........ Will never buy again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish Only disappointment is the color. The sleeves are black black. Not what I expected

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Active Fit Had ordered based on the Active Fit, and found that it wasn't even "relaxed" fit...pretty much a standard XL fit with arms a bit short in comparison to other TNF jackets I own in the same size. If you're tall and thin, this Active Fit will disappoint you. From a use perspective, it packs down to something quite small for what it is, and seems to be the quality and build you would expect from this line of TNF.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Feathers everywhere! I don't find the jacket particularly warm, but I went for 710 - perhaps I should have gone for a warmer jacket. The main disappointment is feathers! This thing leaks feathers like a sieve. It leaves feathers on everything it touches. Real shame, especially for a expensive jacket from a generally reliable brand.

Would this be warm enough for Chicago winters?

Asked by: doggiefosterdad
Thanks for the question! Unfortunately, The North Face does not temperature rate their garments. The Trevail Hoodie is warm enough for an around town winter jacket in mild weather. In harsher conditions, it would be best as a mid-layer. Additionally, the hood only has elastic around the face, which makes it easy for chilly wind to get thru. I would check out some other higher performing options, such as the Outdoor Research Men's Transcendent Down Hoody or the Marmot Men's Guides Down Hoody. I included links below. Hope this helps! http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Outdoor-Research-Men-s-Transcendent-Down-Hoody_10098763_10208_10000001_-1_ http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Marmot-Men-s-Guides-Down-Hoody_10221581_10208_10000001_-1_
