The North Face Men's Thermoball Triclimate Jacket is ideal for rapidly changing conditions or people who can’t seem to make up their minds when it comes to how cold they are. The outer jacket is a waterproof, seam-sealed DryVent™ shell that maintains breathability and allows you to stay active and comfortable. Pit-zips provide a rapid escape for excess heat and the media compatible pocket makes it easy to ignore anyone telling a boring story on the ski lift. When the temps drop, the inner jacket can be zipped in, giving you the ultimate in warm weatherproof protection. Insulated with Thermoball™, a down alternative, it will keep insulating even when wet and dries much quicker than down. You’ll be so comfortable in the cold, people will assume you’re some sort of Viking time traveler and will probably have lots of questions about storing fish and maintaining ships. You better read up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit for all weather I took he triclimate for skiing and it had amazing insulation with very light weight. The water resistant shell was also tested and proved to be great in wet weather. All in all a great buy and great deal from moosejaw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great alternative to bulky winter jackets This is an excellent jacket for staying warm and dry on those chilly winter days. I was looking for an synthetic down (PimaLoft) jacket that wasn't overly bulky and stayed true to size. It is made of strong, water-resistant materials, yet comfortably light and close-fitting. The removable ThermoBall insulated jacket is a great bonus, and provides great added value.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great Jacket Until It Started Leaking after 10 months I live in Seattle and purchased this in November 2015 for use in London and Seattle. I wear it in the rainy fall and spring, less in the colder winter and not during the dry summer. When I went to wear it in February 2017, it was no longer waterproof. I washed and waterproofed it and it did not last. I can see through the polyurethane coating in multiple places on the shoulders and back of neck/head. Will soon know if it is returnable or considered normal wear and tear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can´t wait to use it again! I love this jacket for humid/wet afternoons when you know its about to get a bit chilly. The Triclimate functions are incredibly easy to use when you want to switch from one to another.

Is this jacket good for single digit weather?

Asked by: cam107
Thanks for the question! Unfortunately, The North Face does not temperature rate their garments. This is 4-season waterproof jacket designed for wet, cold conditions. With that being said, I would consider it a more late Fall/ early Spring piece. Hope this helps a little!

Is the hood removable?

Asked by: soxfan
Hiya soxfan, thanks for your question! The hood is not removable. It is adjustable but not stowable either. Hope this helps!

Is this jacket good for mountaineering or is not warm enough?

Asked by: Maxi
Thanks for the question! The Thermoball Triclimate Jacket has a waterproof shell and a Primaloft synthetic liner that mimics the warmth of Down-filled jackets. In other words, it is very warm. My favorite feature is the pit-zip venting. That will come in handy for those mountaineering activities. So yes, I think this jacket will work for you. Just keep in mind that this also depends on the layers of clothes you wear and your body temperature. Every one regulates heat differently. Hope this helps a little!
