The North Face Men's Thermoball Triclimate Jacket is ideal for rapidly changing conditions or people who can’t seem to make up their minds when it comes to how cold they are. The outer jacket is a waterproof, seam-sealed DryVent™ shell that maintains breathability and allows you to stay active and comfortable. Pit-zips provide a rapid escape for excess heat and the media compatible pocket makes it easy to ignore anyone telling a boring story on the ski lift. When the temps drop, the inner jacket can be zipped in, giving you the ultimate in warm weatherproof protection. Insulated with Thermoball™, a down alternative, it will keep insulating even when wet and dries much quicker than down. You’ll be so comfortable in the cold, people will assume you’re some sort of Viking time traveler and will probably have lots of questions about storing fish and maintaining ships. You better read up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a cold weather coat Unlike the previous reviews, this an actual cold weather review. I haven't had a chance to take this jacket out skiing yet, but the general walking around tests aren't good. At 12 degrees Fahrenheit, with negative windchill, this jacket is simply not warm. The Thermoball insulation is only present in the chest, and there is next to no insulation in the sleeves. This results in the equivalent of walking around with an insulated vest on and nothing else. Columbia equivalents at this price range keep me warm at these temps. This jacket is probably fine for skiing at 20 degrees Fahrenheit, but I won't be keeping it, as it's too disappointing for the money. It's more of an over glorified rain jacket, that runs a bit small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Men's Thermoball Triclimate Jacket To start off since we purchase our merchandise through their site, North Face's website was very easy to navigate and shop, the user experience was wonderful! The Find your Size App was awesome, really helps you dial in just what size to get! As far as the thermomball jacket, AWESOME! this is by far the best winter jacket i have ever owned! Light, not bulky and WARM! Wind and water resistant. It barely feels like a jacket when wearing. All the layers on their own are wonderful too! The Thermoball liner is such a great jacket on its own, even in 10-20deg weather. All-around great jacket, great price! Would buy another in a heartbeat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Triclimate Jacket So far so good. This is the nicest jacket I've ever owned. We've had an extremely cold start to the winter and this jacket has performed beautifully. The only concern I have is it is so well insulated that while on a trip to Chicago walking through the town I noticed a build up a moisture between the outer shell and the thremoball interior. The amount of condensation was significant and It raises concern about potential moisture issues if not properly aired out after extensive use. I will say that despite the condensing between the layers I was completely dry. I have been extremely impress with how light the jacket is and how warm it keeps me. I actually look forward to the colder weather to see how this will perform in below zero temps.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Thought product is waterproof I purchased this jacket because of Northface's reputation and the great reviews the jacket received. This coat worked wonderfully in the snow and cold. But fails miserable in the rain. I was caught in the rain and ended up soaked to the skin. The inside shell was completely water logged. This coat 's outer shell offered no protection against water. Per the product description, the outer jack shell is waterproof, breathable, seam sealed. In reality, this product is not tri-climate since it offers no protection from water / rain. Very disappointed.

Is this jacket good for single digit weather?

Asked by: cam107
Thanks for the question! Unfortunately, The North Face does not temperature rate their garments. This is 4-season waterproof jacket designed for wet, cold conditions. With that being said, I would consider it a more late Fall/ early Spring piece. Hope this helps a little!

Is the hood removable?

Asked by: soxfan
Hiya soxfan, thanks for your question! The hood is not removable. It is adjustable but not stowable either. Hope this helps!
