The North Face Men's Thermoball Triclimate Jacket is ideal for rapidly changing conditions or people who can’t seem to make up their minds when it comes to how cold they are. The outer jacket is a waterproof, seam-sealed DryVent™ shell that maintains breathability and allows you to stay active and comfortable. Pit-zips provide a rapid escape for excess heat and the media compatible pocket makes it easy to ignore anyone telling a boring story on the ski lift. When the temps drop, the inner jacket can be zipped in, giving you the ultimate in warm weatherproof protection. Insulated with Thermoball™, a down alternative, it will keep insulating even when wet and dries much quicker than down. You’ll be so comfortable in the cold, people will assume you’re some sort of Viking time traveler and will probably have lots of questions about storing fish and maintaining ships. You better read up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Both innershell zippers broke within 1 year Both of my zippers on my jacket fell off within a week from each other, within a year of owning the jacket. I understand that there is a warranty but how inconvenient is that I have to send my jacket in the middle of winter to a facility in Georgia for weeks at a time? Instead of faulty zippers and warranties why doesn't North Face focus on quality and customer retention. I should've chosen the pricier Patagonia or Canada Goose to begin with. I will not be purchasing anything else from the North Face again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a cold weather product. Coat looks good and fits good, but it is not acceptable for cold weather. Extremely dissatisfied with what this coat is vs what it was advertised as. Would like to return but customer service is not working with us.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice jacket but not for extreme cold This jacket was great down to about 20F. Over the last 2 weeks I've worn this jacket in MN temps down to -20F and I can safely state that you will be cold in this jacket in extreme cold weather. The cold cuts through this jacket in seconds. I had to fail back to my old winter coat. I would recomend this coat be used in non-arctic climates.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product for budget hiker Received this as a gift to replace my old North Face winter coat / my old hiking layer system. Super light weight for the warmth took it for a 10 mile hike yesterday and it kept me warm when it dropped to 20 degrees also walked the dogs in 14 degree weather with inner layer and thin tee and felt fine (disclaimer I do run warm usually). The Thermoball isn't as quality as a standard Thermoball jackets more specifically the sleeves but on a budget its fine. The zippers do stick a bit and haven't tested it in the rain yet but for light hikers who don't have a huge budget or someone who doesn't like bulky coats its great.

Is this jacket good for single digit weather?

Asked by: cam107
Thanks for the question! Unfortunately, The North Face does not temperature rate their garments. This is 4-season waterproof jacket designed for wet, cold conditions. With that being said, I would consider it a more late Fall/ early Spring piece. Hope this helps a little!

Is this coat good for skiing?

Asked by: Christina
Thanks for the question! The Men's Thermoball Triclimate Jacket is insulated & waterproof and was designed for outdoor activities - such as hiking. It is a little shorter at 29 inches. I would check out the ThermoBall Snow Triclimate Jacket and the Alligare ThermoBall Triclimate Jacket instead. Both those options are designed specifically for skiing, insulated, helmet-compatible, have four pockets (instead of two in the standard Thermoball), water protection, and longer lengths. I included links below. Hope this helps! https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_The-North-Face-Men-s-ThermoBall-Snow-Triclimate-Jacket_10345556_10208_10000001_-1_ https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_The-North-Face-Men-s-Alligare-ThermoBall-Triclimate-Jacket_10345484_10208_10000001_-1_

Is this jacket good for mountaineering or is not warm enough?

Asked by: Maxi
Thanks for the question! The Thermoball Triclimate Jacket has a waterproof shell and a Primaloft synthetic liner that mimics the warmth of Down-filled jackets. In other words, it is very warm. My favorite feature is the pit-zip venting. That will come in handy for those mountaineering activities. So yes, I think this jacket will work for you. Just keep in mind that this also depends on the layers of clothes you wear and your body temperature. Every one regulates heat differently. Hope this helps a little!
