The North Face Men's ThermoBall Hoodie is an insulated jacket built to keep you warm when you're on the move. The North Face teamed up with PrimaLoft® to create ThermoBall™ synthetic insulation, and what a break through it has been.Light, fluffy, and ultra-compressible just like down, but with the added power of keeping you warm incase it gets wet. That means you just gained a new best friend out on the mountains, whether you're hiking, skiing, climbing or mountaineering. The outer nylon ripstop shell is 15D for durability and won't compromise the weight of the jacket. The whole jacket packs down super small, so you can pack it or wear it at your leisure. The hood and hem cinch down and the cuffs have a hidden internal elastic, all specifically for blocking drafts from getting inside the jacket. Layer up, the ThermoBall Hoodie is at your service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Absolutely stellar First off, this jacket is awesome (my review is based off the previous model). I took it out for it's first real test last weekend for a bouldering trip in Alabama and it was about 30˚ at night and let me tell you; don't be fooled when it says this is a cold weather jacket. It's not. I've had this jacket for a year and a half and can comfortably say that it's built for about 35-50ish degrees with a t-shirt or long sleeves, but it can go lower with a cotton sweatshirt or something along those lines. I also love the stowage pockets that can also be used as a pillow. All in all: a great jacket, but layer up for below those freezing temps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket Honestly, I was skeptical of this jacket when I first saw it, it was very thin and lightweight and I didn't think it would hold up to the abuse of the outdoors. I was very wrong, this jacket is very warm. I wear a men's M. Pros: -very warm, I wore it down to 4 F (-20 with wind chill) at 88% humility without getting cold -lightweight, you hardly feel it -smooth surface does not catch -quality materials, stitching is good, although not excellent -self stuff into pocket Cons: -no wrist adjustments -no hood cinch -15D may have durability issues later on, would be better if it had 20D nylon -Because Thermoball is a new tech, the cost is just a bit high. Overall, I was impressed. It is very warm for its weight and is a joy to wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from quite nice When I got my jacket I was a little skeptical about it. Very thin insulation throughout the whole thing. But two days later we got a good snow storm in southern Illinois, the test I was looking for. I just put on a waffle style shirt and my Thermoball Hoodie Jacket and removed the six inches of snow off of my driveway and two of my neighbors. I had to take the jacket off because I was to hot. Later that day I walked our dog for thirty minutes in below freezing temperature with out a chill. I would recommend this product to anyone. The bought an XL so I have room for baggy or layered clothing. Fits quite well and true to size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from rad stuff I recently had a patagonia nano puff jacket with hoodie and it really didn't help at all with the wind and environment that i was in. They made it for casual wear. i found out about this jacket a couple of weeks ago and i love it so much.. keeps me warm and is pretty tough. i wear it to work everyday and i doesn't smell bad. so overall this jacket is a great buy, for a person who loves to work and play in the outdoors

Rated 4 out of 5 by from warmer than my down I like the jacket but for this price it should be perfect. The size adviser told me I needed an extra small. This jacket isn't made in xs so I went with the small. It fits well in the shoulders, but a little loose in the chest and waist. I like the ultra light feel of the jacket. It doesn't feel like I'm wearing a jacket. One feature I would ad as a designer, a cinch cord for the hood. If it is windy, the hood is useless, however. It is a great jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from North Face Thermoball Hoodie Really, Really nice design. Pros- -Folds up really small (in it's own pocket) -Very Warm (Fine down to 0 degrees) -Sturdy Zippers -Big Pockets -Nice Hood Cons- -Material seems a but flimsy (thin), I'm afraid a key or a sharp corner on a table might rip it. -Stitching is good but not excellent. BE VERY CAREFUL OPENING THE BOX!!! There is absolutely nothing between the coat and the top of the box. Price seems a bit high. I guess it is new technology though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK i am actually not impressed with the warmth. this is a good jacket for activities where you will add body heat while moving but not for hanging around. I have only been able to use the coat in around high 30-40s when i take the dogs out at night and i must say that it doesnt keep me all that warm even with sweatshirt underneath. The pockets are near useless because there is no insulation whatsoever just a thin layer of the exterior material and no primaloft and i am also afraid to put anything remotely sharp because it most likely put a hole in it. Nice looking coat though.

Is this jacket meant for Active activities? Can it be worn around town ~40-50s with midweight fleece for warmth? Does it block the wind? Any inside pockets or stuffsack?

Asked by: MrMojo
Thanks for the question! The Thermoball can be used for many activities. It has ripstop nylon and won't tear easily. It is perfect for temps in the 40-50's. It can be worn with a midweight fleece since it is an "Active Fit" - meaning it fits close to the body. There is no wind protection, but is water resistant. It does not have any inside pockets, but it does stow inside the left hand pocket. Hope this help!

Is this jacket able to be zipped into another North Face jacket to add layering?

Asked by: Sunny09
Heyo! Thanks so much for asking such a great question. Unfortunately, this jacket cannot be zipped into any other jacket. Although it cannot be zipped in, it is a great for layering. Hope this helps!

Can the hood come off?

Asked by: Jme430
Howdy! I'm sorry to report that the hood of this item is NOT removable. You'd be stuck with it. If you prefer your jacket without a hood, just search for the Thermoball Jacket (not Hoody). Then you can wear a hat in colder weather if you'd like.
