The North Face Men's Nuptse Jacket is a down hiking jacket that has been updated with larger baffles and a new fit. The new fit is a touch sleeker, leaving you looking classy on the trails and in town, much less of the marshmallow-man. The important part to remember is the 700 fill goose down insulation is so warm, you'll hardly believe it only weighs in at 23 ounces and packs into it's very own chest pocket. Throw it on when the temp begins to drop and the double-layer taffeta at the shoulders will hold up to pack straps like a champ. If the weather turns wet, the Nuptse is zip-in compatible to complementing jackets by The North Face®.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome high country hunting jacket Purchased this for high country ( 11,000 - 12,000) ft. mule deer hunting. I have used the Nuptse down vest for years as a layer under Gore-Tex hunting coats and have been 100% satisfied. I've found as I age I'm not able to withstand the cold and killer winds in the high country like I used to. The logical next step was to move into a high grade down jacket, as far as I'm concerned TNF is about as high grade as they come. So the new Nuptse 2 will replace my beloved Nuptse vest as a base layer. I truly wish TNF would come out with some HUNTER FRIENDLY colors!!!! Maybe ATACS or at the very least a subdued OD green...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only choice when it's cold on a film shoot There's a reason all the crew guys and girls own this coat. It keep you warm. Out in the desert or mountains or even the early morning chilly streets of LA or the frigid sound stages of Universal City??_these jackets perform. It's the kind of jacket you want when you're standing around all day in the cold, or trudging across et on a exterior night shoot below 50degrees Sure it's bulky, and sure you feel like the michelin man. But thats the point. It's warmth you seek and the jacket delivers. it's also tough. The nylon and reinforced shoulders take abuse, the kind that cold 16 hour days dish out like punishments. But if you want an original thats lasted me 12 years/seasons. Buy this one now. This jacket could save your life and your sanity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still a classic for the right reasons This is one of the 'original' North Face jackets and legend has it that it only even came about due to excess sleeping bag materials at the factory (which, at that point in time, was a tiny operation)...as well as a need to outfit climbers with something durable, packable (light) and most importantly - warm. I'm pleased to say the current version of the jacket still holds up for the same reasons. I've worn it for cold evenings and mornings in the backcountry (low 20s F) with a baselayer or lightweight fleece underneath and have been plenty warm. It also packs down to an extremely small size, which is key from both a space and weight perspective when backpacking. Lastly, the outer facing of the fabric is fairly abrasion-resistant...I've gotten it scraped on rock and snagged on branches without incident . It is an extremely comfortable but 'puffy' jacket - so some might not be into this look - if so, there are other jackets out there that don't have the same level of down feathers in the 'fill' of the jacket - but, consequently, in my experience you won't be as warm either. Overall, this is a fantastic piece of eminently functional outerwear that I highly recommend. It's nice to know that the North Face is still producing jackets at the same level as decades ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit, look, and function The rest of the family already had North Face and liked it so I decided to give one a try. I'm not disappointed. Living in MN and spending a lot of time in ice rinks I've already put it to good use. Warm, comfortable, light weight, and form fitting are the primary reasons I like this jacket. The only thing I can criticize is that I called a local North Face store and they said they had my color since I wanted to have the jacket right away. But when I got there they said the color I wanted was only available online. This seemed odd to me not to mention I drove 40 minutes there and back for nothing. The online order process was smooth though and the jacket arrived five days after I ordered it so no complaints there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A light jacket that is worth every penny. This jacket is surprisingly light for its looks, however its very warm, worn with just a light woven sweater or a hoodie as a base layer. A little too simplistic design, no inside pockets for an Ipod or a cell phone. I love those. The collar feels comfly though a little bulky for my taste. Over all its a nice jacket to have, looks cool in black color. People have been giving me compliments already. One thing you will find amazing is when you wear it, it feels amazingly light and fit, giving you a feeling of comfort in a modest simple, street smart way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love TNF Black Nuptse 2 Jacket (first goose down) Like the title says as soon as I tried on the medium I knew I found an awesome coat...lightweight and warm! Tied of heavy coats with fleece linings that can be worn as coats. I am 5'7" and 159lbs. and most of the other brands had the coast way too long and heavy. I had wanted down for a while but only saw "fair" quality vests. Then I decided to check out what North Face had after buying a great pair of boots (Baltero 400 lll# by them last year. This coat fits perfect. not loose yet overly tight. Zippers simple and easily used with gloved hands #TNF ETIPS Stretch Fleece) and a perfect combo. This winter jacket is absolutely the best looking and lightest cold weather jacket I ever owned. I higly recommend it as it was 28 degrees and windy the other morning and just the jacket over my work shirt was all I needed. The neck/collar is a great design. Thank you again North Face for a quality product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Frills No Chills This is a classic old-school down coat. Big puffy baffles. No attempts at DWR or water-resistant down. No exotic materials, technical features, accommodations for adventures most of us never do in winter. It just aspires to be a basic warm down coat that works with a minimum "feature set." And that's just fine for most of us who can't find that anymore, told we need super light weight, trick fabrics, extra pockets, harnesses. Well-built and correctly-sized, it gets the basics very right and stops there. Refreshing to see that approach in this sector and especially from TNF. But skip the all-black version unless you want to be a walking billboard for the company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nuptse jacket this is my 2nd nuptse jacket, first is 8 years old and still in good condition due to the quality construction. I bought another one to have a different color, works great and keeps me warm in single digit temp.

Is the Nuptse jacket waterproof

Asked by: Flower
HIya Flower, thanks for your question! This jacket is treated with DWR (Durable Water Repellent), which will protect the wearer in light rain and snow but it is not designed to wear in a heavy downpour. Hope this helps!

Does it have a hoddie?

Asked by: July
Thanks for the question! The Men's Nuptse Jacket does not come with a hood. I would check out the Men's Nuptse Ridge Parka instead. That version will come with an insulated hood. I included a link below for you to check it out. Hope this helps! http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_The-North-Face-Men-s-Nuptse-Ridge-Parka_10317065_10208_10000001_-1_
