Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I bought this not specifically as a ski jacket, though it will be used for that purpose occasionally, but more so as an all-around winter jacket that could handle the often frigid and snowy Chicago winters. We've already had a few below-freezing temperature days here in the Windy City and this jacket has performed quite well so far. The insulation - the main feature I bought the coat for since my other TNF ski shell had none - is enough to stay warm in temps between 20-30 with only a dress shirt or t-shirt on underneath; combined with a sweater/sweatshirt, I expect it to perform well in temps below 20. The windproof feature, which arguably works in conjunction with the insulation to provide another level of warmth, definitely works well. We had 45mph wind gusts just the other day and I felt not even a whisper under the jacket. That said, any potential overheating issues are instantly resolved by the underarm vents and/or a quick tug of the zipper to the neck line. The rest of the coat functions quite well. I really like that the hood is not only adjustable but also removable. This is a key feature, I believe, as you don't always need or want the hood. The pockets are of sufficient depth and utility, including the strategically placed left arm/wrist pocket with the included goggle cloth. The powder skirt was a little tight when I bought the jacket, but with a few quick adjustments it fits just fine and actually aids in keeping the warmth inside. Let's also not forget about the interior sleeve extension that offers a thumb-loop cuff. This will certainly work well for skiers in keeping the snow out in the same way the powder skirt does as the extension is built into the jacket's lining, leaving no way inside for the pesky snowflakes. And if you don't want to use them you don't need to; just brush past them as you push your arms through and out of the sleeves. I'm 5'10", 165 lbs & the small fits slightly snug, but in a good way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome cat First of all 2l gore tex is nice and soft. Level of insulation is perfect. Not a bulky jacket at all. Fits nicely. I'm 6'1" 185lbs 34.5 sleeve 32-33 waste and inseam 41.5" chest.. Athletic build. Broad shoulders. Based on measurements I fit in between a medium and large. I went with the large incase of layering. Actually when I first received it I thought it was too big. But after adjusting it the large fit fine. I think medium would have been too snug. Wrist pocket with goggle wipe is nice. Zippers are heavier than other TNF gear I own which is nice. I like that the hood is removable. It (hood) is very large but allows for a lot of adjustment. Also the powder skirt is not removable BUT it attaches to the coats interior. So instead of using it or having it flap around you can button it fast to the inside of the coat so it's out of the way which is a good idea. Just got it today (mid October and 80 outside) so I haven't tested it outdoors yet. But initial impression of coat in regards to quality and options/convenience is good. Also. Pocket depth seems good as well. Don't know if your hand will fit in there with a mit on but most don't anyway. Hope this was helpful

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solid jacket with really nice style I find that all NF jackets fit me a little bigger than competing companies. I am almost 6 feet and in the 145-150lbs range and a small in Helly Hansen fits ever so slightly on the small side, but totally works. The North Face jackets fit a little on the bigger side, but also totally work. Haven't used it on mountain yet, but really impressed with the finish, hand panties, and styling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Refined Perfection I finally wore out my 1986 North Face Mountain Jacket after 30 years. This is one great jacket. Outstanding design & fit, no obnoxious branding, super function, great cuffs, great pockets, great hood in blowing snow, wind proof, perfect cuffs, breathes great. This is the "Rick James" of jackets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow, what a jacket!!! I bought this shell to replace an old tri-climate jacket. This new jacket is so warm and built so much better than my previous NF jacket. I've always been a bit partial to NF, but this exceeded my expectations. It is very comfortable and will perform very well for may ski seasons to come. When worn as designed, there is no way that snow will get inside this jacket, so I will stay warm and dry all day long. I am very pleased with this purchase, and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good jacket for the slopes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy This is a great jacket. Good all around features from the numerous pockets and pit zips to the jacket itself utilizing gortex. Used this jacket recently in the PNW during the snowy weather we had recently. Jacket held perfectly. Even on Mt hood, it was good. Overall great jacket.
