The North Face Men’s Himalayan Parka is an 800 fill goose down jacket for high altitude mountaineering. Your expedition to the top can be in some of the vicious weather and the Pertex Endurance (body) and HyVent Alpha 2L (abrasion) will help resist it. Welded baffles not only compartmentalize the down so it won’t fall but also won’t create cold spots or weak points when you’re working toward the summit. The hood is baffled as well as adjustable so you can seal in the warmth and still properly see. The 800 fill down is not only warm, but also light and packable for when you aren’t quite ready to throw it on.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Aconcagua overkill An aconcagua overkill by far. I could have skipped a layer or two and still be warm. Electric storm and 70km winds coming down from the summit and I was dry and warm (by warm I mean not freezing like the rest). Totally loved it. Don't buy it for weather warmer than -15C unless you like to sweat. The bad zipper is true but not a big deal I was still capable to close the zipper with my OR altimitts on. 9.5/10 surpassed my expectation greatly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this jacket again and again and again! This is by far the best winter coat l have ever purchased and l have purchased a lot of coats. Insanely warm in even -40 C weather, l just need to wear a t-shirt. Cuts the wind completely. The neck cover and hood is extremely warm, you don't need to wear a hat. If you are in your car you get hot very quickly in this jacket that you have to turn the heating off. When you wear this jacket you feel like your under the duvet comforter in bed it is so comfortable and warm. I tell everyone l meet about how great this jacket is and that they should purchase it .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One & done One & done, put it on over a tee, zip, fasten, fit hood & go. 3 minutes later, you're hot in 28 degree weather, downright awesome! Only drawbacks are cold spots in arms & back in high winds, VERY fragile zipper(already had 1 zipper grip rip off, BUT, TNF sent me a replacement in less than a week) and waterproof feature wears off quickly so I have to use silicone spray.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great insulation in extreme cold, cheap zipper This was a great addition to a trip to Tibet. Impressed with the high end TNF quality. Like most down parkas, works well as long as it is dry. Moisture kills the insulating ability. Good arm mobility and a nice touch to have wrist extenders. The wrist extenders close the gap between the jacket and gloves. Doesn't sound like much but really adds up on a cold windy day. The main zipper is the problem. I think that it s too small for this quality jacket. It tends to stick on the inner flap requiring adjustment and re-zippering. Under most conditions this would not be a problem but if it really cold, this is a nuisance requiring the removal of gloves to grip the zip tab and flap. Not sure why they skimped on this detail. The hood is excellent and not a head ornament, very functional.
