The North Face Men's FuseForm Originator Jacket is a waterproof shell jacket for alpine climbing and mountaineering. The North Face has used new construction they like to call FuseForm to create a seamless blend of two types of fabric, creating a stronger, lighter jacket. The HyVent®, 2.5L, 100% engineered nylon ripstop is 100% waterproof/breathable and adds in Cordura® yarn for strength. The upper chest and arms are more durable to provide extra protection while the lower torso is lighter weight. Paired with the features you've come to know and love, such as the helmet-compatible hood with brim, internal chest pocket, and handwarmer pockets that won't get in the way of your harness, you'll be moving up the mountain with less weight and yet a stronger element deterrent.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Torrential Downpours and All Day Showers I love this jacket. It kept me dry during the all-day showers I ran into while I was out and about in Seattle and it kept me dry during the torrential summer downpours of the midwest. I love the athletic fit as well. Being a bit slimmer, most jackets tend to be billowy around the torso and arms, but this jacket isn't. I've got plenty of room to move without excess fabric. ,,,,My only complaint is that the inside liner is a little too grippy against the skin. It feels a bit weird if you're just wearing a t-shirt underneath. Other than that it's a great jacket.

What temperature is this warm enough without middle layer?

Asked by: Billyboy
Hey there, Thanks for the question. The North Face does not provide a temperature rating for their products, but this is a shell designed with no insulation. If you are wearing it in cool to cold conditions you would need insulating layers underneath. You should be fine wearing this alone in summer conditions.

Can I use this jacket as a ski shell?

Asked by: Jimmy
Thanks for the question! The Fuseform Originator Jacket is waterproof, helmet compatible, and has rip-stop material. So it for sure will work for skiing. It is designed for milder weather tho, so I would layer appropriately underneath. Hope this helps!
