GORE-TEX Pro

GORE-TEX Pro
GORE-TEX Pro material offers maximized ruggedness which makes it ideal for extreme and extended use, like mountaineering, climbing or skiing. It's super durable, super waterproof, and super windproof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent jacket and superb material below is based on my experience living in new york for 22+ years, so i know a thing or two about good jackets that keep you warm and dry, this is a fantastic jacket that keeps you high and dry, i wore this jacket in a rain storm here in california, everything above the thighs were bone dry, all the water just virtually roll off and the and i did was shake off the water once i got inside and the jacket was dry in minutes. fantastic performance. now i do have to warn whomever is reading this review, PLEASE BE ADVISED this is not a jacket that will keep you warm. this jacket is meant to be an lightweight. high mobility, waterproof outer layer. if your looking for a goretex jacket with insulation you might want to choose something else, This jacket is meant for you to layer up with a fleece or a down vest, and this jacket does NOT have zip in capabilities,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You get what you Pay for... I am an avid powder chasing snowboarder with many days in the mountains with some resort, lots of side country and back country. This coat is built to withstand the wear and tear I typically abuse my outer wear with and continue to keep me dry all day in questionable conditions. It provides excellent breathability when hiking in fresh tracks, you can open pit zips easily as zippers are located in places you can actually reach !! The design of this coat has clearly taken in the backcountry outdoors crew, with backpack on I can get in ALL if my pockets - what a concept. I love this coat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It was good for awhile ... then it wasn't! I got this jacket for Christmas and initially fell in love with it. Fit great, warm and dry. Then this weekend while riding in Aspen I took a fall. Not an incredible hard fall but a fall nonetheless. I immediately felt cold air and took off my jacket to inspect it. Sure enough a 2 inch tear! I didn't hit by a tree branch or land on a rock ... nothing like that. Just snow and boom my first and last North Face Jacket was ruined, it didn't even last 3 months. Not exactly what I would call bombproof!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome breathable jacket I've only started using it for commuting on my bike in the rain and snow, but so far it's great. Incredibly breathable and waterproof, yet warm. It doesn't restrict my movement at all on the bike, and there's excellent attention to detail, from the height of the front collar (which covers my mouth when zipped, shielding my face from the window) to the pocket on the sleeve with the fabric to clean goggles lenses. I was worried it would be too heavy duty for general purpose, and I would just use it for skiing and hiking, but it's very lightweight and versatile. Also feels rugged.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought this last month to replace a North Face Summit Series Goretex Pro Jacket that was a great shell, just had the wrong pockets for skiing (more for climbing). This jacket for the bill. Used it twice on days where the weather was around 20 F. Have always loved shells for skiing as you can layer up. This jacket keeps you completely dry, has a built in cloth to wipe your goggles hidden in the left sleeve pocket, and has approximately 6 more usable pockets than the other jacket I had used, including some pretty sweet mesh pockets inside to keep your walkie talkies within reach. Absolutely recommend this jacket!!! Will have it forever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Coat! This is a shell and has no insulation. If you bought this coat thinking anything else then you did not read the description. That being said, this is the best shell I have owned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect snow jacket I had previously owned a 3-ply GoreTex Ski jacket for 20 years, and then very recently it started de-laminating in one spot. I'm not sure how that happened, and it might even have been my fault with improper drying temperatures or something. Anyway, I sent it off to North Face and expected to get a hefty repair charge, imagine my surprise when they said it couldn't be repaired and gave me a store credit for almost enough to buy this jacket! That's pretty fantastic customer service for a 20 year old jacket! It is light, looks extremely durable and is very functional with lots of pockets and thought to skiers/snowboarders. I'll also be using it during heavy rains when I need to be outside, I fully trust this will keep me dry and comfortable. The only negative so far is while the color isn't bad, I wish they had more options. Some of the other color choices only apply to certain sizes, or did when I went to order mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pricey but Amazing This is my primary snowboarding jacket. Some of the other reviews say that it is too thin or like a rain jacket... this is a super durable shell. It works no matter the temperature outside when I'm on the mountain. If its warm out I wear a base layer and a shirt under it. If its colder I will layer my 600 fill North Face down jacket (liner from another north face coat i have) under it. Only downside I have found is its cost but I am now wearing my Freethinker jacket for the third season and it is still holding up great. Some of my other shells have only lasted 1-2 seasons
