Rated 5 out of 5 by from Japanese Winter Samurai I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone. I bought this for my trip to Japan as weather was going to be cold and wet (at least according to a Southern Californian; highs below 50°F, lows below 40°F plus wind chill, rain showers 50% of my days there). I can't begin to explain how grateful I was for this jacket. It is extremely versatile. During the day, I would wear only the lining, which is really a super convenient lightweight down jacket on its own, and just a T-shirt underneath. On rainy days, I wore just the shell, which is water and windproof, and layered up underneath. On cold, windy nights, I would wear both lining and shell, and just a shirt underneath. This jacket literally eliminated any uncertainties about what to pack for the weather for my trip, as well as the weather factor during my trip. I even biked around Kyoto in the rain just because I had this jacket. All my travel buddies were quite impressed with my jacket. I even saw a few Japanese eyeballing my jacket (The North Face is very popular in Japan). Now that I am back in California, I am still beyond stoked about this thing. I can wear the lining casually on cold days or nights around town, the shell as a rain jacket (I've never owned a rain jacket and never felt the need to until this year's winter in California), and I can combine the two for when I am out in the snow! Buying this jacket is really like buying 3 different jackets that will have you prepared for any cold, windy, wet, or snowy (or any combination of these!) weather. Again, I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket. Needs more pockets. Great triclimate jacket. Very warm and comfortable. Just wish it had more pockets on the inside down layer. I carry a lot of gear and I find myself stuffing everything in the two hand pockets on the side when I'm wearing this layer by itself.

Is it good for cold temperatures? Whas is 100g heatseaker?

Asked by: Nicole
Hiya Nicole, thanks for your question! This jacket has 100 grams of Heatseeker insulation. Heatseeker is the proprietary synthetic insulation used in a lot of The North Face products. 100 grams of insulation is less warm than a 500 down fill jacket but it will keep you pretty toasty in 15 to 30 degree weather. Hope this helps!
