Rated 4 out of 5 by from A decent pack. I had the opportunity to use this pack during a trek to the Adirondacks a few weekends back. I've just started hiking recently and wanted to take it on a test run. Short answer: It makes the cut. Light and durable material, breathable back mesh, sturdy structure, plenty of pockets and laces to hang tools and supplies off of. The only thing I wish it had was a larger pouch in the back; squeezing a jacket in is possible with a full pack but that's about it. Even so, the pack is a great buy for a reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This pack was perfect for my mountaineering expeditions. I recently put this pack to the test for my recent mountaineering expedition at Mt. Rainier and I was very impressed with how it held up for such strenuous climb. The only thing was that it required a bit of gracious to pack it but it can be attributed to shape of the dynamic aluminum frame. I would definitely recommend it though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid overnight mountaineering pack I recently took a Banchee 65 on an overnight mountaineer and snow-camping trip up Mt. Rainier and was pleased with its performance. Although pack sizes are provided in liters, there's not great standardization between brands, so I was nervous that it didn't look much bigger than my 35L pack, but there always seemed to be more space when I needed it. The exterior looks fairly clean, but the side mesh pockets carried 2 large water bottles, a snow picket, and tent poles. There's room under the two outside pockets to put a set of crampons. An ice tool (or two) can be easily attached to the outside using one of the gear loops on the bottom with the corresponding elastic cord clip directly above. I also got my mountaineering boots lashed to the bottom compression straps. It's a pretty durable pack. I expected to see some battle damage from carrying the ice picket and crampons, but the pack came home good as new (even the mesh pockets). This seems like a small detail, but the straps for tightening the waist belt are rigged so they have 2:1 leverage. This is really nice if you're taking your pack on and off with some frequency, particularly if you're also wearing a climbing harness and heavy gloves. It also just shows the general attention to detail you're hoping for in a piece of technical gear. For one to two nights of winter backpacking or mountaineering, the Banchee 65 is a good choice. If you were going light in the summer, you could probably backpack with it for quite a bit longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Back packing Of all the back packing I've owned over the last 50 years, the north face backpack is by far the best, lightest and most versatile backpack. I plan to use it on my trip to "el Camino de Santiago in Spain this year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good. Feels unbalanced but works. First, I thought it would be bigger. It lacks semetric straps for top compartment attachment. You have to hunt for clips and straps to secure top to base. Where you expect a strap to be, it's not, even though it's sister strap on the EXACT opposite side. I continue to think something was missed in assembly or built incorrectly. As a result, weight is not latterly balanced. At night, it required packing and repacking to balance. Even empty the CG is off.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for skinny people Purchased for my 14 year old son. Pockets in the waist strap are cool but they prevent the straps from being pulled tight enough so that weight can be distributed on the waist which made for not very comfortable hiking. The straps at the bottom that are used for securing a sleeping mat are barely long enough to hold a new RidgeRest sleeping pad. Small things but disappointing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good pack, poor buckles I have been a loyal customer of TNF products for many years. I have bought so much clothing, coats, equipment, backpacks, that my friends think I have a problem. I have always believed in the quality and reliability. So needless to say, I was excited about putting this new backpack to use. When I received the pack, everything looked to be good quality and it had a lot of features. I packed it up, and headed out for a 5 day backpack trip in the Olympics. On the first day, I was packing things up after a break on the trail and went to tighten up the main center load strap that compresses the top down. The buckle broke. I then noticed how much smaller these buckles were compared to ones I am used to seeing on other TNF backpacks. The plastic also seemed to be too brittle. I had to hike the rest of the trip with a loose load that was really awkward. I brought the pack home, and replaced the buckle with an aftermarket one. I went out on a new trip, and experienced another broken buckle on one of the straps that hold down the top lid. I am disappointed with TNF product designers that went to cheap on these materials that are regularly used and need to be reliable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would highly recommend this product This is the best backpack I have ever owned. It is lightweight and comfortable, not to mention really sharp.

Is the banchee pack come with rain cover? Is there a pocket on each hip strap?

Asked by: Tincup
Thanks for the question! Yes, there is a pocket on both hip sides. Unfortunately, a rain cover is not included. I would suggest either the Osprey Ultralight Raincover or the Gregory Seam Sealed Rain Cover. I hope this helps!
