The North Face Men's Apex Bionic Jacket is a windproof jacket for cool weather action outdoors. The TNF Apex ClimateBlock fabric is 96% polyester and 4% elastane, durable enough for day hikes and weekends at the cabin. The stretch allows you to move easily and wind won't stand a chance against the 0 CFM rating (100% windproof). A durable water repellent finish provides a bit of water resistance as well, so you have a bit of time to get inside when the rain starts to fall. Warm enough for mild weather without allowing you to overheat during activity makes this a go-to jacket for fall and spring.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as described Seems well made, quite windproof and probably (?) useful in light rain. But I returned it because the fit is not at all 'streamlined' as described. The tag actually says 'relaxed fit', which is indeed what it is. As a slim, athletic person, it hangs off me. The 'high rise grey heather' is a completely different color than what is depicted online. And while the fabric is probably good as a light jacket by itself, it's rather odd and stiff and not versatile enough to layer under anything else (perhaps with the relaxed fit, layering things underneath this would be a better plan, but not what I was looking for). Disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Jacket This is my 2nd Apex jacket. The first one I wore for 3 years for everything here in the Northwest, wind, rain, snow, etc. It's warm without all of the bulk. The jacket stands up to the wind, snow and rain remarkably well. In the wintertime I wear a long sleeved shirt with it and I'm very comfortable down to 25 degrees. The only improvement I would highly recommend for this jacket is to make the sleeves a bit looser, and make it waterproof instead of water resistant. I've owned quite a few rather expensive jackets in my life, but none of them held a candle to this one. It would be a big mistake not to try one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Jacket!!! This jacket is simply amazing. A little warmer that what you would expect from the weight, will hold hold up well in temperatures colder than you'd think. My first one was stolen from me in a Chinese night club. If you ever go to Luoyang, China, and wear this jacket keep an eye on it. I don't know who stole my jacket, so I'm holding the whole country responsible. So 1.3 billion people like this jacket, that is 1/5 of the world's population, and they can't be wrong. I bought a new one when I got back to the US and A and couldn't be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket for Fall and Spring I needed a functional jacket that had style for fall/spring and saw the crimson Apex Bionic and loved it. I have worn it in windy weather as low as 35F and have been comfortable with a long sleeve and ear muffs. Pockets are great because they are designed so that average sized items will not roll out or fall out when leaning back, getting in and out of cars or just moving around. Very wind proof, chest pocket is great for a mobile phone. Fleece inner material is warm against the skin. High collar to keep the neck warm, water resistant treatment on outer material and zipper has inner flap to keep the wind out. All around great jacket

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Light Jacket I have only recently started buying Northface gear. I have a Tri-climate specifically for winter. So recently I purchased the Apex Bionic for the spring season coming up. I love the Apex material. It blocks all wind and does a good job against water. It is not waterproof but it will hold up to light rain. I have used it in weather from 10F to 40F so far and it works great and still kept me warm. It still look professional enough that I can wear it for work too. So overall it is an amazing jacket. I recommend this jacket to everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from tnf apex bionic jacket (new fit) version I brought my first apex bionic in 2008 & i admit this is a get jacket. I can wear this jacket in three out of the four seasons. In the winter i just wear a hoodie underneath & i am warm. The 2014 version of this jacket is the same thing as the older version but the only difference betwwen the two are to me is it fit slimmer a little tighter but i like that so in cold conditions it keeps you warmer & other is the chest pocket is really smaller than the older version. It can only fit your keys, ipod mp3 player or a small phone just one item at a time. But at least in the newer jacket it does have a headphone hole inside the chest pocket so u can protect the wire of your headphones wire. Overall another great jacket by tnf. I hope this review helps & be safe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Id buy it again The reason I bought this jacket was because of the great experience I have had with my other North Face products and my gloves from last year are this APEX BIONIC material. The material is water resistant and stretchy. The gloves proved how water resistant last year with all the snow we had in Michigan and kept my hands warm even biking in our Arctic Blasts. The coat so far is great, it cuts the wind on bike rides and still breaths enough to keep you cool. ,,,,I think its best use would be as a mid layer below 20f when not active, but if you are moving more than its great over a long sleeve t-shirt as your outter layer into the teens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go-to Fall/Winter jacket I've had this for over 3 years now and still love it. Very durable, and I still don't see myself needing a new one for a long time. It's my typical go-to jacket for Fall/Winter weather, and I'll usually have another layer underneath it. I'm 6' and 165 lbs, and have a Medium. However, if I was buying a new one today, I'd probably get a Small, since TNF jackets run large and I like my clothing pretty form-fitting. Very stylish and comfortable. The soft shell does wonders against wind and holds up against rain pretty well too. I've attached a picture from a football game where my pants got soaked, but you can tell that most of the water ran off the jacket or stayed on the surface, but didn't go through. I recommend wearing this over a sweatshirt or hooded jacket--since there's no hood--or wearing a beanie. The hand pockets are very large though, and I love that you can zip them up.

Can this jacket be worn in New York winters?  What temperatures can this be worn for everyday use?  How does it compare to the TNF Denali jackets?

Asked by: Josh
Josh, I have both the hooded softshell Apex Bionic and the traditional fleece Denali.  Have had the Denali for a long time and the Apex just a year. Three things I noticed the most.  1) I didn't realize how much wind got through the Denali when I wore it as an outer layer. The Apex is a bomb. No wind gets through. 2) Would definitely need an waterproof shell with the Denali when there's rain. The Apex isn't waterproof, but surprisingly water repellent. Could go a while in some rain before leaking through. 3) Stretch. The Apex seems to move with me better for active outdoor fun, e.g., skiing, as opposed to standard Polartec fleece.  I think the Apex is warmer and can probably go into the 20s to 40s depending on how big you get it, what you have underneath, how active you are. I don't think I'd go as cold in the Denali...particularly if it's blowing. Hope this helps!

Will the zipper work with 3-in-1 North Face jackets?  My shell and fleece (North Face Gore Windstopper (Mens L)) are 20+ years old with YKK branded zippers.

Asked by: 10910w
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Outside of their 3-in-1 jackets, The North Face has a limited selection of outdoor wear that's considered zip-in-compatible. Unfortunately, their Apex Bionic Jacket is not on that list.

Does this jacket run big? I am looking to buy it for my husband who is 5'11" and 210 pounds. I'm not sure if I should get a large or extra large. I don't want it to be too baggy.

Asked by: AV5848
Hey there, The Apex Bionic runs pretty true to size, so I would go with the usual size your husband wears in this. If you are between sizes I would size up.

On the Grey jacket what color is the emblem in? I couldn't tell if it orange or red!

Asked by: Ddae
Hiya Ddae, thanks for your question! The logo on this jacket is actually a reddish/orange color. Some people might call it "blood orange." Hope this helps!

How do you get rid of the wrinkles on the TNF apex bionic  softshell jacket? When i received it in the mail, tried it on,the wrinkles are very prominent still.. Tnx

Asked by: BeljaN
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to Moosejaw! So sorry you're having difficulties with some pesky wrinkles. Have you tried hanging it up so that the wrinkles will "fall out"? Or, have you tried washing it? I usually wash new garments prior to wearing them, kind of like washing fruit before you eat it.

I'm 6'3" 230, I typically wear XL in hoodies and jackets but I have a North Face light jacket in XL that is too short. What size would you recommend I go with? I don't want it too bulky but too short is bad! Thanks!

Asked by: Yeahbuddy
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! This jacket runs pretty true to size, so I would stick with the XL. I measured the XL and it's about 29 inches in length. I hope this helps!
