Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pack wish there were more compartments The pack is super comfortable. It definitely is my favorite back packing pack. The only thing I wish was different would be the side pockets. I wish at least one side pocket would be bigger to fit a water bottle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Already have! Awesome pack! Perfect size and very versatile. Crampon pocket and helmet carry makes the pack able to be loaded up for longer overnight trips, then the pack can be minimized for shorter summit pushes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth its weight in gold! Great pack, comfortable, and has many useful features. It is very hard to adjust the waist straps to fit a narrow waist (< 30 inches) but definitely not a deal breaker. I used this pack on a spring ascent of Mt. Hood and hunting in eastern Oregon; it worked flawlessly. If you are looking for a technical mountaineering pack that can pull double duty for backpacking as well, look no further.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Half Dome Hike I have been an outdoor enthusiast for a long time. I am also a Type 1 Diabetic who needs to carry extra supplies(more so than the average person). Anyway, I bought this bag for the trek up Half Dome in Yosemite for 2 nights and there is a lot to love about it, however there are a few cons worth noting. First off, the pack is great; it fit a lot of gear. My tent, all necessary tools, sleepingbag, food for 2 days, rope, first aid kid, medicine the whole 9. That being said, although it holds quite a bit of gear, access to said gear is pretty lame. There arent pockets on the outside other than the very top of the bag, so you have to load all of your gear in the one main pocket and getting to it can be a hastle when on the move. You spend a lot of time packing and unpacking the entire bag to access something during the trip, at least in my experience. Also if you buy this bag be careful with the belt/shoulder clasp straps: if you pull too much or too quick it may break as mine did. I am in the process of returning the pack and exchanging it for the same bag, however. Pros - Good amount of space without overkill - a very nice looking bag(best looking TNF bag) - very comfortable even while holding 35+lbs - outside crampon/icepick slot doubles as water bladder holder - Rope tie on hipbelt for multi-use excursions Cons - Top load only, and only accessible through top of bag - lack of pockets on outside and inside(Top/Crampon/MainBagArea) - sturdiness of straps on chest/hip/shoulder not very great All in all though, very nice bag with some minor kinks to work out. Would recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent evolution in product design. All the best from the previous generation of Terra 65 pack has been refined and re imagined as the latest and greatest in alpine/backcountry packs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultimate backpacking experience Spent 1 month travelling through Mexico with my brand new Cobra, carrying clothes, climbing gear, a tent and sometimes food, and it was a real pleasure ! Very convenient with all its internal and external pocket. Very comfortable, easy to carry, I love it !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stellar alpine pack I was dubious when I purchased this 60l pack, but it checked boxes for features I wanted for long alpine trips- high volume, lightweight, durable fabric, top loading, less pockets, easy access, compressible with smaller loads, easy and secure crampon, axe, and helmet stowage, and easy modular subtraction/addition of parts to reduce weight for summits. Pack has exceeded expectations. Just returned from a summit climb on Mt Rainier. Used the pack to carry 45 lbs (and a high volume) of gear up 4,500 ft elev gain from trailhead to base camp. Then removed lid, framesheet (still leaving some minimal padding in the back), and padded hipbelt (leaving webbing belt) and carried as a compressed summit pack for glacier travel and mixed terrain on the upper mountain. TNF has returned to original interest in making REAL climbing gear. After putting pack through its paces in heat, ice, rain, wind on icy and rocky terrain - it still looks new. Surprisingly, ALL of the features, including things I thought gimmicky - metal hook buckles, one-hand open drawstring, bulletproof crampon pouch, ice axe head sleeve and shaft buckles, were indispensable for convenience and function that made using pack a smile-inducing pleasure. Suspension is very comfortable, without being overbearing. Hipbelt and framesheet (with removable stays) transfer weight to hips very well. Large size framesheet fit thin 6'0 frame fine without adjustment (sheet readily bent/customized to fit). Padding is enough to keep things comfy for 45-50 lb loads on a long day. In a pinch, would carry 60 or 70 lbs in pack for shorter periods. Such weight would be bearable - transferred solidly to the hips, but straps would prob pinch with such large loads. Many pro guides have asked about the pack, not a well known model. All surprised to find it is a TNF pack. After climbing with other great alpine packs, including a fantastic, decidedly simpler Montbell alpine pack, this TNF pack is my fave. My go-to for alpine climbs.

The North Face Men's Packs

SIZE One Size Small / Medium Large / X-Large
Torso Size (Adjustable) N/A" 15 - 20" 17 - 22"
Torso Size (Fixed) 17 - 20" 16 - 19" 18 - 21"
Hipbelt Size 28 - 40" 28 - 34" 35 - 42"

HOW to MEASURE TORSO SIZE
1. Put your chin to your chest and feel for the big bone protruding on your neck at the top of your spine. That's the C7 vertebra.

2. Feel your hip bone, the top part of this is your iliac crest. Find the spot on your back that is level with the top of this crest.

3. Have someone measure the distance between these two points, following the contours of your spine.

HOW to MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE
1. Measure around your body where the hipbelt will rest while you hike. This should be just above your iliac crest.

NOTES
The size info above is for The North Face technical and backpacking packs. Day packs and work / school packs are offered in One Size, and feature adjustable straps to fit an array of sizes.
