Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very supportive, extremely durable boot I used this boot for wildland fire work. It held up extremely well and has no visible signs of wear on the uppers. Normal tread wear, even after heating up my feet to the point of being very uncomfortable on hot stump holes. Order a full size up f you are doing serious hiking with these. I order a half size up and still banged my toenails up on the descents. I have wide feet and found the fit o be close, but not too tight in toe box and perfect every where else. This is with the inclusion of green super feet insoles which took up a bit of volume and made the heel fit tighter, which was desirable. They took about 10 days to fully break in, so put some miles on them before a trip.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good par of boots that can be use for many different actives I bought these boots to use as my work boots. They work great as a forestry/prescribed fire boot. I have used them for a week of chainsaw work and a three day hike. So far and they have performed well. They are narrow in the toe area and run small. I wear a size 10 but bought a size 11 and I don’t think I could go any smaller.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable right out of the box! These boots were comfortable right out of the box. I have wide feet and usually don't trust online ordering, but this was an awesome experience. The sizing guide was spot on. I especially like the removable extra tongue, which makes for easier adjustments of ankle support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable! I was looking for a tall boot to hold my ankles while hiking with a backpack. These boots perform very well, I used them both in the summer and winter and they are comfortable and sturdy.

How thick is the leather and how does it compare to the Wrangell?

Asked by: Gabe93
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us. Let's get into the nitty gritty specifications of Scarpa, my favorite! So, for the Fuego, we're dealing with Crosta Pro HS12, a premier 3mm suede used on Mountain Boots. This leather gives support and great abrasion resistance and is treated with an additional HS treatment for enhanced water shedding. For the Wrangell, it has the 2.8mm Crosta Pro HS12, it's durable and takes on the unrelenting outdoors with a rubber rand for additional protection against debris. Hope this helped you out!

I am a female with a narrow foot looking for a wildfire boot. This boot was recommended to me by a fellow wildland firefighter. I see it is a mens boot. Does it come in a fit for women? Thanks for your time.

Asked by: kristen
Hiya, thanks for your question! This boot is an excellent choice for a wildland firefighter, especially a female firefighter. It actually has a mid to narrow width and a snug fit on most wearers. With thick socks, it shouldn't fit too loose. Hope this helps!

Are they waterproof?

Asked by: RabB
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! You bring up an excellent question, and I'm glad we can answer it here. While these are not completely waterproof, they are in fact water resistant. What does that mean? Let's go with the tried and true answer! "Water resistant means it can keep out water forms like rain and might be able to keep out water in a pool for a short period of time where water proof means it can withstand large amounts of water for long periods of time." Hope this helps you out!

Bought a pair, almost two years ago. Have used them on two woodland fire deployments. And they are painful on my toes. Think the boot is AWESOME and we'll made. Will they break in and get better?

Asked by: Tom C
This is actually a very common question. Unfortunately, the Fuego Boots do have a longer break-in period than most. Depending on how many miles you are wearing them, it could take approximately two weeks to six months of solid use before you get to the point of never wanting to take them off. I would try some simple adjustments - replace the insole, different socks, change the lacing system, etc. There should be enough room in the toebox for your toes to wiggle. I know the fire season is coming up, but try to break them in during your down time. Don't give up!

i have extra wide feet, is there a chance these would fit?if not any recommendations on boots that would

Asked by: kevin
Hiya Kevin, thanks for your question! I haven't heard any feedback regarding this boot having a wide fit. Sorry about that! You may have to buy a boot that is one size bigger, length-wise, than you need in order to get the right width. Then you'll need to fiddle with socks, heel inserts, insoles, and other stuff to adjust the fit. Or you could buy two sizes to compare... keep the size you prefer and return the other. One suggestion is the Vasque Men's St. Elias GTX Boot. You can find it here: Are you open to a plastic mountaineering boot? If so, check out the Scarpa Inverno Mountaineering Boot. I have read reviews praising this boot for its wide fit. Here it is: Hope this helps!

I am a tree climber and I use Spurs to climb with and am wondering if Spurs work good with these because I heard that they are a comfortable boot for hiking in but I also need something for climbing in to

Asked by: Michael87
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! I believe it was Robert Frost who once said that he'd like to go by climbing a birch tree. I can't argue with that. Anywho, as to your question, I think you'll be fine using these boots with spurs! I spoke to a customer just the other day who commented that he uses spurs with these boots, so you're all set! What one man can do, another can do! Hope this helps you out. Hugsies.

• Rock Climbing Shoes - it is recommended you size down 1/2 to 1 full size from your casual shoe size.

• Mountaineering Boots - size up about 1/2 size, depending on your desired fit.

• Ski Boots - Scarpa ski boots are measured in Mondo sizing. Neat. Please note that many boot sizes will share the same size shell, while the liners are lasted for each 1/2 size. Some skiers may want to size down up to a 1 full Mondo size, depending on their desired personal fit.

Unless otherwise noted or converted for you already in the size options, all Scarpa non-plastic footwear uses European sizing
1 Euro whole size = 0.26 inches
1 US whole size = 0.33 inches
