The Sawyer MINI Filter is a small filter for backpacking, travel and anywhere you need safer drinking water. It's called the MINI for a reason, because you can tuck it into your pack, hold it in your hand or stuff it in your pocket and take it anywhere. It's small and ready to use whenever you need a drink. Attach it to the included pouch and drink from there. Or maybe you have a hydration reservoir, then you can link it inline to the hose. There is even a straw so you can drink right from the source or just attach it to a pop bottle. Yeah, I said pop, not soda. We're from Michigan over here. I bet that freshly filtered water still tastes good though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great functionality in a small package!!! Works great, set up to work with a bottle, as a lifestraw style folter or even with a hydration system like the 6L I have from MSR! Not bad when your life is on the line...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best filter for going ultralight This filter works great and weighs next to nothing. Until now I have used chemicals and wanted to advance into filtering. I had a hard time choosing between this and the Sawyer Squeeze but landed on this one due to the smaller weight and size of the mini. One tip is to use a 0.7 SmartWater bottle instead of the "dirty water bag" since this bottle can also be used to backflush.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great with adaptations I bought this filter for a 4 day trip in pictures rocks. It filtered water just great! I found it works best if you just buy a large smart water bottle and attach it to the filter. It fills up much quicker than the pouch and you can filter more efficiently that way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job Great lightweight filter that does the trick. I've only used it with the included dirty water bag so far, but look forward to trying it with a bladder in the near future.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from GET THE FULL SIZED SAWYER If you plan to go on a trip longer than weekend, save yourself the grief and get the full size sawyer. The mini is slightly cheaper, slightly smaller, and slightly lighter. It's not worth it. The flow rate, after a while on trail, will be similar to having your eyes peeled open for all of eternity, watching water drip from the ceiling into a cup that never fills up. While Sawyer is pretty awesome, the mini may drive you nuts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet water filter Love it! Light and fast for a great price. Allows me to save a great deal of water weight hiking/camping/climbing. After a long days adventure, it's great to be able to just hop down to the creek for some ice cold water when what's left in my bottle is 100 degrees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small but Useful It's compact, light weight, and useful. What more could you ask for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dynamite can come in a small package! I'm working as a volunteer on the trail crew for Alaska State Parks this summer with 6 other gentlemen and we all purchased one of these. Though we were slightly eery of a small filter lasting the whole summer, the filters we had in the group from the beginning of the summer are still working fantastic! Our job is going out on hiking/camping trips MILES from civilization that last 8 days each and we can't carry gallons to our camping sites, so we have to filter any water we drink (unless we want giardia). I bought mine a little over a week ago and it works just like the others in our group; I'm looking forward to the several uses that I will get with it in the future as well. I would demand that anyone wanting to add a great filter without adding a lot of weight should get one of the Sawyer mini filters!! They're extremely easy to use, and they work great with a platypus for lightweight and compact storage in your bag. I would buy this ten times over.

How do you clean this?  Is there a syringe like the other Sawyer?  Doesn't seem to come with it.

Asked by: Brad
There is, but you can also just use a smart water bottle as a syringe. The sport caps can fit nicely and work as such.
