The Sawyer MINI Filter is a small filter for backpacking, travel and anywhere you need safer drinking water. It's called the MINI for a reason, because you can tuck it into your pack, hold it in your hand or stuff it in your pocket and take it anywhere. It's small and ready to use whenever you need a drink. Attach it to the included pouch and drink from there. Or maybe you have a hydration reservoir, then you can link it inline to the hose. There is even a straw so you can drink right from the source or just attach it to a pop bottle. Yeah, I said pop, not soda. We're from Michigan over here. I bet that freshly filtered water still tastes good though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small, Lightweight, great water This filter is amazing. I always take two filters with me hiking (MSR miniworks and Sawyer). This filter is so lightweight you wont know it is there. If you carry a 20oz bottle the sawyer can attach directly to it. Simply fill the water bottle with dirty water, attach the filter and squeeze the clean water into your mouth or other water bottle. This filter works well if you have a running stream or "spicket" of water to collect from. The filter can get backed up and have a reduced water flow but as with any filter, good maintenance and often backflows can prevent this a lot. Overall this is a great filter to use as primary in river and stream areas or as a backup to another filter since it is so light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So light you never even know it's there I bought this filter primarily for an anticipated trip to Big Bend later this summer. I am one of those people that tend to read and watch nearly every review I can on a product before finally plunking down some of my hard-earned money. And so, I will admit, I hesitated to buy this product precisely because of its small size. ,,But, this product is simply amazing. I was able to test it out 2 weekends ago on a rock climbing trip and it performed well beyond my expectations. Sawyer has redesigned their water pouches to make them stronger and more durable and so really, you can't beat this product for its price. ,,If you don't want to make this filter a regular addition to your backpacking kit or rockclimbing pack, it deserves at least a place in your go-bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dynamite can come in a small package! I'm working as a volunteer on the trail crew for Alaska State Parks this summer with 6 other gentlemen and we all purchased one of these. Though we were slightly eery of a small filter lasting the whole summer, the filters we had in the group from the beginning of the summer are still working fantastic! Our job is going out on hiking/camping trips MILES from civilization that last 8 days each and we can't carry gallons to our camping sites, so we have to filter any water we drink (unless we want giardia). I bought mine a little over a week ago and it works just like the others in our group; I'm looking forward to the several uses that I will get with it in the future as well. I would demand that anyone wanting to add a great filter without adding a lot of weight should get one of the Sawyer mini filters!! They're extremely easy to use, and they work great with a platypus for lightweight and compact storage in your bag. I would buy this ten times over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best way to go for purification without slowing you down. Love, Love, Love the Sawyer Mini. After hiking 37 miles with my old filtration system, I saw a fellow hiker with this. Upon inquiry, I knew I had to have one. I attached it to my existing hydration system and was able to carry a couple liters and the water filtered as I drank.,,I then put it on a 16 ounce bottle and carried in on my side. This made for reducing weight on my A.T. hike and I never worried about drinking unfiltered water. A MUST for anyone hiking or canoeing where water has to be treated.,,Debbie

Rated 2 out of 5 by from GET THE FULL SIZED SAWYER If you plan to go on a trip longer than weekend, save yourself the grief and get the full size sawyer. The mini is slightly cheaper, slightly smaller, and slightly lighter. It's not worth it. The flow rate, after a while on trail, will be similar to having your eyes peeled open for all of eternity, watching water drip from the ceiling into a cup that never fills up. While Sawyer is pretty awesome, the mini may drive you nuts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Buy I bought this for backpacking in the Big Horn mountains. It is pretty easy to use but the best part is how versatile it is. I can use it from inline with my hydration pack or squeezing it in to water bottle. Also very economical in price. Must have for backpacking!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet water filter Love it! Light and fast for a great price. Allows me to save a great deal of water weight hiking/camping/climbing. After a long days adventure, it's great to be able to just hop down to the creek for some ice cold water when what's left in my bottle is 100 degrees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good item to have in your collection This is a great lightweight option. Maybe not as proven as some of the other filters, but for the price and size and weight, it has been great on a couple of weekend trips and useful and convenient for one person and reasonably accessible water.

How do you clean this?  Is there a syringe like the other Sawyer?  Doesn't seem to come with it.

Asked by: Brad
There is, but you can also just use a smart water bottle as a syringe. The sport caps can fit nicely and work as such.
