The Patagonia Women's Torrentshell Jacket is a waterproof jacket for any time there is moisture in the air. Headed to work? Grab the Torrentshell. Going for a hike? If you're not wearing it, stuff it into its own pocket and clip it to your beltloop or toss it into your backpack. At 10.6 ounces, it's pointless to leave it at home when it could save you from getting soaked in an unexpected rain. The 2.5 layer waterproof/breathable H2No® Performance Standard fabric features a 100% recycled nylon face to take on rain, sleet, even snow. Just be sure to layer up underneath if you're in colder weather. When in hotter weather, open up the pit zips to release excess heat while the front zip stays shut to keep you dry.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wife loves it. My wife wanted a cold weather jacket able to handle athletic activities outside. This jacket more than met her requirements and looks great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely Waterproof! I wore this in torrential downpour and extremely high winds while hiking over an exposed mountain top--and the water never came through. I've been extremely impressed with this rainjacket. I love the fact that when it's all the way zipped up the wind can't wrip the hood off; it stays right in place. And it also has a nice little brim. I also love that it stuffs into its pocket. Such a convenient feature. This coat is well worth getting. It's one of my favorite pieces of hiking gear!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Rain Jacket! I bought this Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket about a month ago. I got it for my backpacking trip in July. I have however gotten to use this already a few times when it rained. This jacket has kept me nice and dry so far! The fit and design is also really nice as well. It can also be packet into the pocket, how convenient! I got the radar blue in a size small and I am 5"2, 120 pounds. I hope to be bringing this jacket on many more adventures!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super water resistant Love this jacket! A lot of "rain jackets" aren't actually water resistant, and water sucks right off of this jacket!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Shell Took this shell on her maiden voyage in the rain on the way to work today and arrived perfectly dry. I'm normally a small, but opted for a medium in order to layer underneath when the weather is cold and I'm glad I did. Looking forward to more dry days in the future!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good shell for light rain The jacket is a solid lightweight shell, that's good for your average stroll in the rain, but isn't up to wet weather backpacking. On my first backpacking trip with it, a week after purchase, it started to soak through after about 3 hours of sustained rain. I bought it a little larger than my normal size, which worked out well for layering. I like that it has a deep hood that keeps water off my face. Size zips help with breath-ability, but don't help when it isn't totally waterproof to begin with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great deal for awesome, durable product I bought this jacket a month ago and have worn it in rain, sunshine, on a run, on a hike, and as an outer shell for skiing. It's an incredible deal for a very high-quality item, and the color combination is perfect - unique and simple.

Does this jacket have any type of insulation in it?

Asked by: alli
Hey there, This Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket is considered a rain jacket and isn't insulated. Good news though! There is an insulated version, the Patagonia Insulated Torrentshell Jacket.

I plan on backpacking through SE Asia this summer ... do you think this jacket is too heavy for a warm climate?

Asked by: swyllie
HIya swyllie, thanks for your question! I would pass on the Torrentshell jacket for that purpose because its going to create a lot of perspiration. Take a look at the Patagonia Women's Stretch Rainshadow Jacket or Patagonia Women's Cloud Ridge Jacket. You can find them here: http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Patagonia-Women-s-Stretch-Rainshadow-Jacket_10300495_10208_10000001_-1_ http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Patagonia-Women-s-Cloud-Ridge-Jacket_10330310_10208_10000001_-1_ Or, if you are looking for something less technical and super light, check out the The North Face Women's Venture Jacket.
