DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fit is horrible (for me) I am short (5'1) and curvy (42-31-43) and am used to having fit issues (especially with outdoor/activewear brands). However, it's like they didn't even bother trying with this coat. It was about 6" too wide in the shoulders with a lot of bunch up material around the armpits), fit around my bust, was too wide in the waist by 4", and fit around my hips, but was too snug to fit another layer underneath. The material was also very shiny and noisy (unlike my Marmot coat). The shoulders were the worst part, they cut into my arms when bending over to tie my boots, not because I have fat arms (I don't), but because of the badly shaped armscye. My old coat which is a size too small now doesn't even do that. I wish it had full lining around the neck too like my old Marmot, but there's only a small strip of soft fabric behind the zipper at the neckline.

Is the fit spacious enough to layer this coat over a wool peacoat?

Asked by: martitab
Hiya, thanks for your question! This jacket is designed to accommodate layers underneath, however, a wool peacoat is too thick. I tried this jacket on with my Nau Women's Cocoon Down Trench and it just fit. I wouldn't wear it would anything thicker. Hope this helps!

does this have a temperature rating- such as: good to 40 degrees? is there a liner? how do the sizes run ?

Asked by: Sharon
Thanks for reaching out to us. This jacket does not have a temperature rating and would not be best used in 40 degree weather. The reason for this is because it has no insulation and does not have a liner. With Patagonia this item will run smaller than true to size. We hope this helps.
