DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great looking warm coat. love the look and feel of this coat. I bought the tan color like the contrast of cream color fleece lining on hood. Coat fits perfectly and is sized correctly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and Cozy but not that stylish Really nice jacket. Super warm. Runs a little big so be mindful of that. It's for my wife and she ultimately returned it because it was kind of plain. But very good quality coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cute and functional I bought this for the upcoming winter season, and for traveling out west from Michigan. I can't believe how warm it is, AND I get so many compliments on it. Patagonia, once again, pulls off functionality and good looks with this wel made piece.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cute but short Loved this coat but I am too tall and the sleeves are too short. When I tried to go up in size I was swimming! No stretch or give but cute and warm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super comfy and warm coat! I bought this coat a few months ago and I am very pleased with the quality of it. It keeps me so warm even in the bitter Michigan weather and it's really cute too. I should've gotten a small, however, because it's kind of big but it keeps me extra warm!

Is this product vegan?

Asked by: Deven30
I am so sorry for the late response! Unfortunately, the lining on this Parka is made of shearling, so it will not be a vegan product. The closest option that is vegan would be the Radalie Parka. I included a link below. Hope this helps!

Is this Patagonia's version of a barn jacket? Work with horses, barn, carriages, etc and love Patagonia. Other "well known" barn jackets brands are huge

Asked by: Honneerider
Thanks for the question! The Prairie Dawn Parka is not specifically an Equestrian piece. It is possible to wear in the barn, but it will for sure show dirt and hair will get caught in the fleece. Also, you will want to layer - IE: long sleeve shirt and vest. The Parka will not ventilate well if you are super active - such as cleaning stalls at a fast past. There are just too many unknowns to give you a direct answer. It really comes down to a) is the barn heated and b) do you get warm easily. I would check out Carhartt jackets - as those are made to be more durable and rugged. I included some links below. Hope this helps a little!

What is the cold factor? What is warm to. Live in Chicago and it gets to sub zero.

Asked by: Debbie
Hiya Debbie, thanks for your question! The Prairie Dawn Jacket might be a little to thin. It is not a wind proof jacket. It has some insulation, 60 grams of Thermogreen, but not enough for bitter cold Chicago winters. Some other options to check out are: Patagonia Women's Down With It Parka Patagonia Women's Jackson Glacier Parka and Patagonia Women's Tres 3-in-1 Parka Hope this helps!

How does this coat do in the snow?

Asked by: joanna
Hiya joanna, thanks for your question! This parka is water resistant but not waterproof. It should be fine during light to medium snow but it wouldn't stay dry in heavy wet snow for a prolonged amount of time. Hope this helps!
