Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 2nd Fiona If you're looking for a slim and streamlined down parka, the Fiona is your best bet. This is my second Fiona parka as I wanted a black one in addition to my denim blue one from a few years ago. This version is slightly longer (I'm 5'5", 135lbs and got a small) and the sleeves are not tapered at the wrist like my older version. The quilt pattern is updated and fun. I have had it for about a month and am not getting any feather leaks through the fabric. It also has 2 interior pockets along the zipper lines. For me, it's warm enough for mid-Atlantic winters and I'm looking forward to getting lots of wear out of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME jacket! I bought this jacket about a month ago and I love it! I live in Texas, so it is perfect for layering, especially when our weather can vary 50 degrees in an hour! I did buy it big so I could layer, and even wear it over my workout clothes. It's fantastic because it will smash into my workout bag, or even my purse, and then come out looking the same with a couple shakes its ready to wear! Also, I buy a lot online and have to say Moosejaw is now at the top of my list! Excellent service, great prices, and great sense of humor in their emails is an added bonus! Haha! I wish I would have found them years ago!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice color, odd fit. I really wanted a lightweight blue coat and got excited when I saw this one. Color is great! The fit was not good. I'm 5' 5" 140 lbs bra 34 B. When I put this on it looked like it was designed for someone taller then me. The waist line hit at my hips and then flared at my legs. Also the wrist opening at the sleeves was very wide letting cold air go up my arms. The length of the sleeves was right for my height so maybe it would not work for a taller person? I sent the coat back and Moosejaw refunded my money. Good response time and customer service. But I still really want a blue coat. Oh well the search continues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm coat if the feathers don't all come out Only had this coat for a few weeks. It is warm and looks nice on. Hits me just above the knee. For reference I'm 5'1" and 119 lbs, muscular build. I bought the small and there is room for a sweater underneath but nothing bulky like an oversized sweatshirt, otherwise the coat is too tight in the arms and shoulders. It does shed feathers however and is an issue if you wear a lot of black like me. Otherwise, nice coat and what I expect of Patagonia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous Fall NYC coat I p urchase this coat b/c two co-workers have it. They both look stunning. I purchased the Portofino pink color to be visually outstanding. Which it is! I am 5'5'', 129lbs. I wear the coat with a long sleeve tee or a lightweight sweater. Anything more bulky to me would detract from the slim fitted look. I wear it in weather that is 45 degrees-mid 50's. For me any temp. cooler or warmer would require a different outdoor covering. Great for Fall/early Spring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight warmth I bought this coat a month ago to supplement my north face metropolis parka, which I was wearing all the time. I am so happy with this Patagonia coat. It is lightweight yet perfectly warm – ideal for chilly days in the Washington DC area. The blue color also is beautiful!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good coat for mild winter days This coat is terrific for cool fall and mild winter days. I like the fitted design as it doesn't make me look like a puff ball. However, when the temperature drops I'll be sporting a heavier jacket for outdoor excursions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Lightweight Travel Parka This is one of my favorite parkas, equally great for a stroll in New York City as a hike at Machu Picchu. I got it in navy, which is very elegant color. I normally wear Patagonia tees in XS/S and short jackets in S. In parkas, I always order a M, to allow for layering and also because of Patagonia's cut. If you have any kind of hips (I wear size 6 Womens pants size), you'll need to go up one size. Their long jackets are cut for a very boyish body shape (straight up and down). Jacket packs super small and is very warm and wind proof.

The product information says "The 100% polyester shell is windproof and has a durable water repellent finish to deter light rain or snow." However the answer to one of your questions above, you state it is NOT windproof or waterproof. Which is it?

Asked by: sharrell
Hiya, thanks for your question! This parka IS wind and water repellent. I'm so sorry for the confusion!

Is the Fiona jacket warm enough for 25-30 degrees weather or will I need heavier coat?

Asked by: elizbethp
Thanks for the question! The Fiona is an ultra-light down parka. I would not go lower than 40 degree weather. With that being said -if you layer appropriately, you could wear it in colder conditions. I would check out the Down With It Parka and the Downtown Parka instead. I included links below. Hope this helps!

Does the Patagonia Fiona Parka for women have a hood?

Asked by: Tamara
Hiya Tamara, thanks for your question! The Fiona Parka does not have a hood. If you want something similar that does have a hood, I recommend the The North Face Women's Thermoball Hooded Parka or the Nau Women's Cocoon Down Trench. Check them out here: Hope this helps!

What year are your Fiona coats from right now? 2016? Latest coat? Also how shiny in the fabric? Like The North Face thermoball or less shiny?  Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions!

Asked by: Peace in MN
Hiya Peace in MN, thanks for your questions! The last update to this parka was done in Fall of 2015. This is the version we currently carry. Patagonia is planning to update the parka with recycled down insulation in Fall of 2017. In addition, they might be releasing and new Hooded Fiona Parka next fall. The fabric has a certain shine but it is way less shiny than the Thermoball. Hope this helps!

Has Patagonia fixed the problem with the Fiona of shedding feathers?  I would like to buy the Fiona but do not want any feathers shedding on my clothes.  I wear a lot of black.  Also what measurement does size small and medium encompass?

Asked by: Corky
Hey there, Thanks for the question. The Fiona Parka is designed to be lightweight, so like many lighter down jackets it does have a tendency to shed a few feathers with repeated use. After using it for a lengthy amount of time you may notice a few feathers coming out here and there, but you shouldn't see any excessive shedding that would compromise the warmth or construction of the coat. A Small is equal to a size 4-6 (chest 34-35", waist 27.5-28.5") while a Medium is equal to size 8-10 (chest 36-37" and waist of 29.5-30.5"). I hope this helps.

Patagonia changes the sizing for the Fiona in 2014. Is there a way to purchase a Patagonia Fiona Large Black coat from 2013 or earlier?

Asked by: Nomm88
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! I was just checking the inventory of this item, and I'm showing that everything we currently have is from 2015. As for the 2013s, unfortunately, it looks we sold out of those quite a while ago. Your best bet might be checking Google or even local second hand shops. Hope this helped you out!

What outdoor temperatures can this coat handle? I'm surprised it's not listed either on your site or Patagonia's site. Can it handle 30 degree weather?

Asked by: Jennifer
Hiya Jennifer, thanks for your question! This jacket does not have a temperature rating. In fact, most jackets do not have temperature ratings. This is for several reasons. Mainly, it's because warmth is a subjective thing, unique to each person. Not only that, but there are other factors that can affect a jacket's warmth: wind, humidity, activity level, what else you are wearing, etc. That said, this parka would need something layered underneath it to handle 30 degree or lower temperatures. Hope this helps!
