Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best length and fit for a down jacket! I've tried various NF jackets, before realizing Patagonia makes the best form fitting outerwear. I am 5.5, 115lb and XS fits me like a fancy down dream. The underarms do not bulge like in all slim NF jackets. I am not nuts about the colors though, the rusted/burned orange is interesting, but fits my mom better, then again, I am just no fan of this color. Grey is nice, not too metallic and shiny, black is classy. ,,I did however purchase NF Transit, bc of the reviews on warmth and durability, and I need a more sporty jacket. If I lived in a metro city and not in the Midwest, I would prefer this for its style and just simply perfect cut.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks hot, keeps me warm. This is probably the most flattering down jacket known to man--er, woman. Gogi Berry a beautiful color. All of my friends are jealous. Even though it seems really thin, if I walk in it for 20 minutes, I need to unzip it because it gets so warm inside. ,,,,It's my first down jacket. I am in love. ,,,,A note about sizing: I don't think I'm that large. I wear a size 10 in jeans. I bought a medium--it's not too small, but let's just say this: I won't--can't--gain any weight or this baby will no longer fit.,,,,A note about the snaps: they get looser with age, so they're not as annoying to open. They still make this loud popping noise, though.,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seriously. Your Lady-Friend Needs This. My wife is VERY picky about the fit and style of a jacket. I've bought several puffy jackets for her to try (North Face, Marmot, LL Bean) and they all had something wrong. Too bulky. Not feminine enough. Too long. Too short. Not warm enough. Sleeves too short (especially true with puffy jackets). This one is perfect in every way (if only it were water proof). ,,*This jacket is very flattering. It's not just shaped this way for the photo.,,*It's the right length. Too short and it rides up when she bends. Too long and it’s restricting sitting in the car. ,,*It's warm. ,,*It really feels like a quality garment too.,,I can't say enough about this thing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent in every way! It is a perfect 10 in the top 5: Fit, color, insulation, comfort and style The fit of this Patagonia Women's Downtown Loft Jacket is fantastic and the color is fabulous! Wether you are hiking five miles or strolling five blocks, you will feel toasty warm and you will look smoking hot:) ,,I'm 5'6, 128 pounds (OK on a good day) and normally wear a size 6. The small jacket was just a bit to tight in the chest to be comfortable. The medium fits perfectly. The cut is exceptional; allows for free movement, while maintaining a flattering silhouette. The feel of the fabric is exquisite. It's smooth, soft and so lightweight you'll almost forget your wearing it - until you get the next compliment:) Enjoy!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great looking coat, not that warm, feathers fall out... I LOVE how this coat looks. I have it in black and it's a nice trim cut and a little longer than average so it's perfect with casual clothes or for dressing up a bit. ,,,,The major downside is that it's just not that warm. I bought my husband a patagonia coat last year, so I had really high expectations. This coat is not quite as awesomely cozy as I'd hoped. ,,,,The other thing that bothers me is that little feathers keep on poking through the jacket. And, if you pull them out, things get worse. So, I'm not sure how long this jacket will last.,,,,Bottom line, I think this is a stylish coat, but it lacks the warmth and durable construction for the long haul...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Jacket is fabulous. I would like to start off with the color. Though the least important in a winter jacket, I had purchased the New Adobe color. I fell in love immediately. The burnt orange is beautiful. I am approx 5'4'', 130 lbs , 34D, average waistline and the small fits great. I could have easily gone with the XS however I prefer to have extra room for sweaters for sub-zero days. I do agree with one of the other reviews, it would be a plus if the hood was removable but I really like the style of it. This jacket is the perfect thickness- not too bulky and thick enough to keep warm. It is practical and fashionable. Excellent purchase. Well done patagonia, well done.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from another fabulous Patagonia coat I bought this for winter work travel purposes. I would rate this coat good to 32 degrees F if you're not wearing anything more than a cotton shirt under it. It's pretty wind resistant, but wouldn't wear it in coastal winds. I wore it at -20 degrees F with a cotton shirt underneath on a March nightly stroll in Fairbanks, Alaska and remembered that cute doesn't always cut it. ,,,,It get's the Big Ups rating from me for being a well-packed down coat that actually looks flattering and can be worn to moderate winter temps. I'll keep it as my winter work coat and use my wooly items for subzero activities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pedestrian Commuter's Multi-Functional Dreamcoat I first ordered the gray. Light, blah gray color + shiny material = walking trash bag. Think Michelin Man. Thanks to the lovely folks at Moosejaw, I returned all that nonsense for a small in berry. LOVE. The berry is not bright red, more like a burnt-red-orange, almost a retro feel. I am obsessed with it. ,,I'm 5'4 125lbs and I always wear a small in Patagonia. The fit is slim through the torso and less slim in the arms. The jacket hits me right below my bum. It's more flattering to the figure than most down jackets. Wearing it feels like I'm enveloped in a baby sheep blanket and lounging on a pile of marshmallows. ,,I walk to work everyday and this keeps me warm. Can't ask for much else.

Women's Fit Guide Details & Info

Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.

Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.

• Conforms to the body's contours.

• Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.

• Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.

• Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

• Boxy, athletic, with a traditional crew neck.

• Formfitting and longer in the torso, with a wider, deeper neck (not quite scoop).
