DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat. I bought it month ago and very happy with the coat. Very light, not bulky. I needed medium, but it goes size smaller, so large was right for me. Good value for the prize.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Parka This parka is exactly what I was looking for. It is very warm but also stylish. The fit is great, and easily accommodates winter sweaters and fleeces without the need to size up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from so warm! I needed a longer coat to walk the dog in and this is great. It keeps me really warm. small issue is it is a little tight around shoulders. I am 5'7 145lbs and very muscular so this could be an issue if I was wearing a sweater.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and form fitting Love this coat. It's super warm. I would recommend going up a size if you are curvy in the hips. I am an 8 and ordered the large and it fits comfy allowing for layers underneath. My other patagonia coats have run small as well. Great coat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best purchase of 2016! I decided on this Parka after much research and deliberation. This jacket is fantastic; the quality is superb. It's warm, not overly puffy or big and form flattering. It's almost like being wrapped in a sleeping bag! We are experiencing 0 degree weather here in Colorado today and I was comfortable outdoors; even hot while shoveling! Definitely worth the money. I ordered a large, 5'6", 170lbs, size 10 and usually a medium in Patagonia tops. I am happy with the size I purchased as I feel it runs a little small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keep warms me all day I believe in Patagonia quality and this jacket is another worth to purchase. I'm a regular small size person, 5'3", long arms with baby belly, and XS fits great with two layers of t-shirts underneath and still keeps me toasty in freezing New England weather. I was hesitated that there is no wrist guards, but the sleeve covers up the half of my hand pretty stable to hold gloves so not a problem now. Also the fast shipping! I placed the order on Monday night and got the package on Wednesday after noon. Overall, It is a great buy!

Deciding between a small and a medium- I am 5'4", 125 lbs, small-medium bust (36B or 34C), hippy but athletic, like my clothes form-fitting but not tight, comfortable but never baggy. Recommendation?

Asked by: Kelly
Thanks for the question! I actually own this Parka. It is my winter staple. It runs true to size and has a "Regular Fit". So it's not slim, but not baggy either. You actually could fit in either size comfortably . If you prefer your jackets to be on the looser side you should go for the Medium. Hope this helps!

 Does this jacket leak feathers?

Asked by: PandaNewfie
Thanks for the question! This Parka is actually my Winter staple. It does shed feathers from time to time. Since it has larger baffles, the feathers will shift and leak out naturally. Not enough to cause any concern, tho. I hope this helps a little!

I am 5'5", 127 lbs, 34B, with 38" hips, usually a size 4-6 on top and 6-8 on bottom. I probably would not wear heavy layers under this coat. Which size do you think I should get in this coat?

Asked by: jennifer
Hiya Jennifer, thanks for your question! Based on your description, I would recommend a size Small. Hope this helps!

It's listed as waterproof, but will it withstand a rainstorm? I live in a climate with hours of rain at a time, often quite heavy, so full waterproofing is a must.

Asked by: Birke
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! The Patagonia Down With It Parka is water resistant, not waterproof like a rain jacket. The Durable Water Repellent (DWR) is a coating that prevents moisture from soaking the jacket, but it will have a saturation point, especially if you plan on wearing it in the pouring rain for an extended amount of time. You might want to consider more of a ski jacket with waterproofing capabilities if you're looking to keep dry and warm.
