The Patagonia Women's Down Sweater is a down insulated jacket for mid layer or outer layer warmth. The 800 fill power down combined with the 100% recycled polyester ripstop shell creates a lightweight, compressible jacket that warms your upper half. When the winter sun is at it's highest and you're too hot for a coat, tuck it into it's own internal pocket and clip it to your harness or hide it away into your pack for later. No need for an extra stuff sack and it'll be ready to keep you warm once the sun drops. Two hand pockets toast up your digits when chilling around the fire, or zip a pair of gloves inside. Worn alone or under a hardshell, the new contoured fit and longer hem will have you cozy for the whole winter.

FEATURES of the Patagonia Women's Down Sweater

  • New shell fabric has an updated ripstop pattern, and like the liner, is still a 100% recycled polyester fabric with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish
  • Traceable Down (third-party-certified, non-live-plucked, non-force-fed) 800-fillpower goose down
  • Updated fit is more contoured and has a longer hem; horizontal quilt lines in body and narrow horizontal quilt lines on side panels
  • Center-front vislon zipper has wicking interior storm flap and zipper garage at chin for next-to-skin comfort
  • Two secure handwarmer pockets have vislon zippers and garages; internal zippered chest pocket self-stuffs and has a carabiner clip-in loop
  • Comfortable nylon-bound elastic cuffs seal in warmth
  • Hem adjusts by pulling cord in handwarmer pockets and releases with cordlocks at front hem

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

I was wondering which Patagonia coat is warmer; the Down Sweater Coat or the Nano Puff jacket?  Can either coat be used as a warm winter coat or will I need to layer?  Thanks!

Asked by: Sunshine
Hiya Sunshine, thanks for your question! Warmth is a subjective thing, unique to each person. Personally, I think the Down Sweater Coat is warmer than the Nano Puff (the Nano Puff is thinner). I have the Down Sweater Coat and it is my go-to jacket in late 30 to 50 degree temperatures. (I get a little too warm when I wear it hiking.) If the temperature dips below that, I have to layer or I reach for my parka instead. Hope this helps!

Is this down sweater machine washable?

Asked by: Grace44
Hiya Grace44, thanks for your question! Yes, you can wash this item in cold water in a front-loading machine with a gentle detergent. (You can find specific detergents made specifically for washing down items.) Machine dry on no to low heat (may take a few cycles) with two to three clean tennis balls added to the dryer to restore fluff. DO NOT bleach, iron or use fabric softener. Hope this helps!

How long is the body of the women’s XL down sweater.  I don’t like jackets that are short & the description doesn’t include the length.

Asked by: Lucilulu
Hiya, thanks for your question! The center back measures 27 inches long (in size XL). Hope this helps!
