The Patagonia Women's Down Sweater Hoody is a winter jacket for technical use such as winter hiking or skiing to casual outings like backyard campfires. The outer shell features an updated ripstop pattern to increase durability, while still remaining as lightweight as previous models and a durable water repellent finish to deter light rains or snows. Windproof on the outside, the 800 fill power down also traps warm air to keep you insulated throughout. The jacket compresses down small, into it's own chest pocket in fact, so you can bring it along on any trip that may potentially turn chilly. Forget your hairstyle and pull up the hood to keep your ears toasty for the rest of the day. I'm sure your hair will forgive you later.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second Skin I bought this jacket as a mid layer for cold weather activities (snowboarding, general tourism) and a outer layer for Texas winters. I haven't taken it off in two weeks and it's been 80* outside. The fit is flattering and not too bulky. It's lightweight enough to later nicely under heavier coats and rainshells, and packs down nicely into its own pocket. This coat was plenty warm when temps dropped below 40*, but is still breathable enough for warmer winter weather. I'd recommend this a million times over. (For reference, I'm 5'2", 115 lbs, relatively large chested, and ordered a small. It fits perfectly, with room for a base layer and sweater beneath).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic jacket - well worth the money! I absolutely love this winter jacket! This is undoubtedly one of the best purchases I've made in the recent years. The "sweater hoody" has everything I wanted and expected. I've been wearing it almost every single day since it arrived on my doorstep early this winter. It's very light, not bulky, and looks great. I have received several compliments on this jacket. I wanted a hooded winter jacket to get extra protection from wind and rain and this snug "sweater" keeps me warm and dry in any winter weather. I can also fit extra layers under it if necessary. I am 5'9'' 140 lbs and I purchased size M in the red color. The jacket length and the sleeve length are perfect. Overall, this winter jacket is a winner!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the perfect down jacket I have purchased 3 other down jackets over the last five years while trying to get up the courage to splurge on this beauty. I prefer black, but they are NEVER on sale.,,,,Well, 5 years later and 3 jackets down... I finally broke down. MAN! I should have done this in the beginning. This thing is warm, soft, versatile, movable, lovable, and stylist. Plus the hood makes me feel the same way I felt in footy pajamas.,,,,Anyway, in terms of sizing, I'd actually size down! I have the vest in XS, which hugs and assumed a Small would be good. Apparently they are made roomy - Patagonia is one brand that gets jacket sizing right - they know people aren't naked under there!,,I'm 5'5'' and 115. 34B in case you're really interested. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Survived Iceland Weather for a week in this beauty This is my first Patagonia jacket purchase ever and it was for my trip to Iceland where the weather was expected to be 30-40 degrees F (but feels like 20's with windchill). This jacket kept me warm and dry through all my hikes and walks through the rain, wind and snow of Iceland. Best of all, it is very lightweight, not bulky at all and allowed me to move flawlessly. The adjustable hoodie was also great in the wind as it stayed on my head. I would recommend this jack to anyone based on its ability to keep you warm, dry and in motion. On an extremely cold night, i was even able to wear a parka over the jacket. BUY BUY BUY!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect & Light Weight I am very tomboyish and have trouble finding a jacket that isn't so girly. I bought this jacket and love it. I purchased the maroon color and went up a size so that it is not so fitted. It is exactly what I was looking for. I always end up with heavy coats that make me feel like a snowman, but this jacket is very warm (even in snow temps) and I am able to move. It feels like I have nothing on, and when I first got it I thought this little thing will not keep me warm... well, it does and it is amazing. For the tomboy's, buy a size up and you will be fine. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pre-Boston Winter Last year I wore my Patagonia Downtown Loft Parka everyday starting in December and going into April (NO. JOKE.). I am an elementary school teacher in Boston and it got me through many recess duties and bus dismissals. HOWEVER, I needed something a bit lighter for the Pre-winter weeks and the Down Sweater Hoody was my answer. So far, it has been perfect. It is light, soft and compact. I easily packed it for a football game and it kept me toasty warm in a wind tunnel of a stadium. The hood is great when the wind kicks up, or when a few light sprinkles fall (I would not recommend for a downpour though). I weigh 112 lbs, 5'5" and the fit is good - a bit loose - I could have gotten away with the XS but wanted room for a sweater. I have noticed that once I am inside a building or a warm car - I heat up fast if I continue wearing this. It might not feel like much because it's so light - but it has been great :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit and color This coat is perfect. Light weight, warm, trimming, longer body providing more coverage on hip. Looks great from front and back. I bought the Arbor green which is a rich dark green with life to the color. Color is complementary with so many other colors. In Alaska we have 7 months of winter and it is great to see green after so many months of white. No velcro to tear your hair or make noise which is a plus for me. Do not hesitate to buy this coat. You will not be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Purchase Not only do I have one of these, but I have three-- black, white & tealish blue. I have had them for over 5+ years now and wear them consistently in the winter months. I order a size L (5'8, 160 lbs & a larger chest) and am able to wear a Re-Tool Snap-T Pullover comfortably underneath-- or a thick sweater. I always bring this jacket when I travel in the colder months because it folds up and can be condensed in a suitcase very easily. I love the hood on this jacket because it actually functions like it should. It covers the top of your head completely (and trust me, the average baseball cap doesn't fit my head- my head is big!) and it is always a relief when I have it on because I know I'm protected from the elements. The jacket is slightly waterproof, but you wouldn't want to be standing out in heavy rain for too long. Washes well, I put a tennis ball in the dryer to help increase the fluffiness of the jacket. This jacket is perfect for the Midwestern cold months!

Does anyone know what temperature this is rated to? Could it be used as an outerlayer for Alaska in February? Or is something warmer going to be necessary? (Assume I wouldbe having a few layers beneath that are weather appropriate).

Asked by: crj1036
Hiya, thanks for your question. While this isn't a "winter jacket" or parka, you can wear this as an outerlayer, Warmth is different for each person's own body temperature, so I would definitely layer accordingly. Hope this helps!

Is this the most recent version, with the longer, rounded hem in back?

Asked by: Fishstix
Hiya Fishstix, thanks for your question! This jacket does have a slight rounded hem in the back, but it looks pretty natural. It hasn't been changed for the past few seasons, so even previous season colors will fit the same. Hope this helps!
