The Patagonia Women's Baggies Short is a summer short that can handle the outdoors. Made from 100% Supplex® nylon and coated with a durable water repellent finish the fabric isn't afraid to get wet. Get hit with the hose due to a rambunctious toddler? No problem, water beads up and rolls right off. Paddling your kayak and need to go for a swim? Jump in! The pockets are lined with polyester mesh to provide drainage and even though you'll be pretty wet when you get back in the boat, the shorts will dry quickly. The 5 inch length covers your suit bottoms while still leaving plenty of leg to be kissed by the sun. An elastic waistband and simple drawcord keeps them falling when jumping from the tops of waterfalls.

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shorts When I ordered these in a M I went with the size chart, and they fit perfectly. I'm a true size 8, mostly on the upper end, but I've never worn a 10 until lululemon changed all of their measurements this year and I bought a pair of shorts from them. I'm very athletic. People don't believe me when they say I weigh 160-170, but I fluctuate easily. After reading lots of reviews, I was anxious I had ordered the wrong size, but they fit me very well. They have a very straight hip fit with a wider open leg that allows me and my quads and booty great space to move while I do anything! usually I struggle to find pants that work well for the shape of my leg, but these are really an exceptional purchase. Hiking, biking, river sports - they hold up so well. If you're on the upper end of sizes, go up to allow room for the booty, you'll need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE! Great for hiking and Surfing! I bought these for a 2 week trip to Costa Rica--hikes Tenorio in them and surfed in them! Great for humid climates bc they stay dry and don't chafe your legs and when soaked, dry fast! They are also SUPER cute!! I bought them in the blue print also!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these shorts! These baggies are my new favorite shorts! They are very well made just like everything else I have purchased from Patagonia and dry super fast. Baggies are great because they are so versatile and can be worn for everything from hiking to swimming to just running around town. I also have a thing for pockets, which means these shorts get extra brownie points.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Patagonia Baggies in Black I'm 5'7" and about 130 lbs and the size small in these shorts fits me well. The waistband is comfortable but not so loose that I worry about the shorts coming off. The length is good and while the shorts are kind of loose I do not think that they gap too much around my legs. I am looking forward to wearing them casually and while hiking and swimming.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wander-full!! These shorts are the best!! ,,I borrowed a friends on a 7 day backpacking trip and feel in love - they are long enough to be hiking shorts and light enough to go swimming in. This is my first, personal pair and I am so excited. I have already run 3 miles and biked to a friends BBQ/played sand volleyball and the activities to do in them keep rolling on!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh. I love patagonia’s short baggies. LOVE them. And I thought these would be just as awesome... arguably more awesome because the length is a little closer to what I prefer. But I’ve not found that to be the case. They fit as I expected in the waist and booty, but then they kind of flare out at the legs... it looks like I’m wearing an A-line skirt that got cut into shorts. Not remotely flattering. I admittedly have skinny legs, so maybe these would work well on someone with a more athletic build. Sadly, I will be returning mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best outdoors shorts This is my 3rd pair, and I absolutely love them. I've had my first pair of Patagonia baggies for 4 years, and they're still in great condition. And that's saying something because I wear them on a weekly basis, go hiking, swimming, rock climbing, rolling around in the dirt (as one does in the great outdoors), and they hold up so well. They also dry really fast if you have strong impulses to jump in any body of water you see like I do while outdoors. You won't regret them.

I love these shorts and I'm considering buying a pair. What is the advantage of these over gym/running shorts?

Asked by: Ruddy
Thanks for the question! I actually own these baggies. I wear them when I go stand-up paddle boarding. They are so versatile, that you can literally wear them for any activity: swimming, biking, running, hiking - you name it! The material has DWR - which repels water well and dries super quickly. So if you sweat a lot during working out, that feature will keep the baggies more breathable - as opposed to say a pair of cotton gym shorts. The two side pockets are mesh-lined and the outer fabric has a 50 UPF sun protection rating. I hope this helps a little!
