The Patagonia Petrolia 28L Pack is a top loading backpack for travel and trail. When the days require your 15" or smaller laptop to come along, the side-access pocket is ready to hold it away from the rest of your gear. When the day is all about completing a 14er before the sun sets, the same side-access sleeve will holster your hydration bladder with ease. Over in the main compartment, stuff in a book for pleasure and a sweater; but easily fits harness and climbing shoes when you're off to the crag for a bit of climbing with friends. Airflow mesh backpanel and shoulder straps are comfortable regardless of what the day brings, just secure the webbing waist belt and sternum strap for security. Stash your rain jacket in the stretch front pocket, an extra water bottle in the side stretch pockets and finish the day with success.

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this backpack. I like how the zipper is not like every other backpack and unzips closer to your back. This backpack is also extremely comfortable and I am able to wear it for any type of activity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This pack covers many basses. My main use for this pack is commuting to work and traveling. I find it perfect for those purposes. I can fit a few days change of clothes, 13 inch MacBook air, toiletries with room to spare. The bucket lid makes going in and out of the pack to retrieve items very easy I switched from a multi compartment pack where I often had to open every zippered compartment until I found what I was looking for. The shoulder straps are very comfortable I think of you loaded it up with heavy climbing gear you would be quite comfortable carrying it. Witch brings me to my favorite thing, not only is it great for work but it serves just add good in the back country for day hikes and other adventures. Their is something soothing about having an item that you use in the backcountry with you as you hustle through an airport or through traffic in the mayhem of modern life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile pack This is my daily school bag and I love it! I am able to pack my work folders, Chromebook, water bottle, rain jacket, lunch, change of shoes, and various other odds and ends. (Pretty darned important since I am the teacher and I have to show up.) Even better, this pack has been with me on a few overnighters in the woods. Since it is a top-loader, I was able to fit a hammock, bugnet, straps, fleece, water, snacks, book, headlamp, and toiletry bag inside and I had a little room to spare. The bag

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Multifunctional I've only used this a few times but am pretty satisfied so far. The peach has a good balance of features that make it suitable for commuting, travel, and a day on the trail. Best features include: side zip compartment for a laptop or tablet, large main compartment, large stuff pocket on the front and a pocket and somewhat hydration bladder compatible. So far my only complaint is none of the small organizer pockets are large enough for my iPhone 4s, so it goes in the lid pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for committing and weekend trips Exactly the backpack I was looking for. Simple and well designed. Love the padded laptop sleeve (side entry), the bucket style main compartment (keeps everything in), the mesh pocked in front, and the compression straps on the sides to stay streamlined.
