Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great organization and size Bought this about a month ago. Love the size of the main compartment. Plenty of room for my day hiking gear. Small side pocket is perfect for a first aid kit. I've used the dial back pocket for both a laptop and water. Works great for both

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great backpack I love this thing. Im a mom...and the shabby diaper bags just weren't cutting it. I wanted a backpack with serious room and compartments for all the essential gear; change of clothes for the kids, change of clothes for myself for after I get pooped and vomited on, water bottles, sippy cups, chew toys, snacks, infant and child belladonna or Tylenol, enough bandaids to set up medic clinic, diapers, wipes, alcohol, tranc darts, the usual. There's a perfect top zip compartment for keys and cell phone if my kids didn't throw them somewhere, the little compartment for pens wallet and professional paper ooorrr coloring books and crushed crayons and goldfish. For amateurs there is a supposed back unzip flat compartment for laptops, but for true rogues/badasses it's a changing pad and nappy compartment. this backpack does it all and feels light as a feather and comfortable on...which is important when you have a 20lb mini human strapped to the front of you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall great backpack. I have been using my Patagonia Paxat 32L for about six weeks now. I live in central Wisconsin and walk to work year-round. I am coming off of a Timbuk2 messenger bag (the commuter series) and was looking for something more comfortable with compartmentalized storage that would also accommodate a laptop. I am happy to report that the Paxat lives up to those expectations quite well. The main compartment will easily hold a change of clothes, running shoes and some misc. The front compartment is very deep unlike most which for me is perfect because I carry an organizer that holds misc cords, chargers, external drives etc. The organizer is aprox 6"x9" closed and fits perfectly in the bottom of the front pocket. Then towards the top of the pocket is a smaller pocket good for shades, keys etc - along with some smaller ones for pens, phone, whatever. Typical water bottle pocket on one side and a zippered pocket on the other - both very useful but nothing really outstanding about either. The laptop pocket is (in my opinion) very nice. Prior to buying this pack the only negative reviews I read about it were directed towards this pocket. Some claimed that it isn't accessible enough because the zippers are actually behind the shoulder straps - which is true. You have to reach under the apex of the straps to run the zippers down. Or fold the straps forward (inverting them) over the front of the pack. I'll agree that is does add a little extra effort but what you gain is a laptop/tablet pocket that zips completely open! You can unzip this pocket and literally fillet the pack apart (eg for going through airport security). Not to mention aside from the main laptop pocket there is one opposite of it that is perfect for iPads etc. So compared to other packs that typically have a top zipper that allows you to slide a laptop in, which is super convenient - this one sacrifices a bit of convenience for a net gain in function (again in my opinion). There are a couple more misc features - a small fleece lined pocket on top that I assume is would be used for shades not kept in a case. And the expandable outside front pocket. This one I have found to be great for headphones (I use Bohn bluetooth which fit perfectly) or a folded rain jacket. You get the idea. Six weeks in the only negative thing I can say about the pack is that I wish the shoulder strap webbing was a little wider/thicker. The webbing (not that padded strap) is only .77" wide and .0035" thick. Def narrower and thinner than I'm used to. I find that the straps tend to "leak" out after walking 15-20min. Not much but enough to notice. Hoping after it breaks in a bit more they will settle in. That's about it. Not sure if you can from this site but if you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them. -Matt Madison, WI

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tons of room! Bought this backpack a few weeks ago and I love it. The pocket sre huge and easily carry all of my books during the week and then my gear on the weekend. That laptop compartment is also super convenient as well for easy access.
