Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does not suck at all! Fabulous sun protection top. It’s called “tropic comfort hoody” but It really works both in hot and mildly cool temps for sun protection. I’ve worn it in 90+ degree weather where it wicked sweat well and I stayed cool. I also wore it on a mountain run this summer to a windy summit with temps in the mid 40’s. It had enough coverage with the hood up that I never had to layer up while I was moving. It stays in my pack constantly now because it is very versatile Top. Warning! I learned that it doesn’t have enough coverage to go “sans” pants. My seat ended up sun and wind burned. Please wear pants or shorts when applicable!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Hoody!! Fits great and works great. While Patagonia fit can be hit or miss, the small fits me great. I am 5'7" and muscular 175 lbs and the shirt is not to loose or tight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The perfect summer shirt? Worked great on hot sunny days. Wicks really well, and I didn't get a sunburn even after being without shade all day. I forgot my sun hat one day, so the hood stepped up to provide protection. I sweat a LOT and was worried about the hood being too hot, but it wasn't. After testing this out during the summer (in the 90's almost all of Aug)I decided to buy two more for an upcoming trip to Africa. It sure beats layering up with sunscreen, especially in places where water/showers are scarce. My only concern would be durability especially if worn as a backcountry base layer. I could see it getting easily torn on branches and rocks. However, so far so good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this shirt/hoodie My doctor told me that I should avoid sun exposure. No problem except I love being outside and active so I started looking for shirts with a high SPF equivalent. I was a bit skeptical that the shirt would keep me from getting burned without any sunscreen on or another shirt beneath it. And I was worried that it would feel too warm when wearing it out in the sun and heat. So, the first weekend I had it I went out for a 25 mile bike ride on country roads with very little shade with just the shirt, no sunscrren. I was amazed... despite it being extremely hot the shirt kept me amazingly cool breathed very well and I got home with absolutely no hint of any sun exposure. In addition it has a hood which I thought might be a nuisance and sometimes does flop down when you're bending over if you don't have the hood up, but the benefit is that the hood was able to actually go over my helmet (and it doesn't feel like an oversized hoodie when you're wearing it without a helmet it stretches and comes up and over the helmet like magic) and prevented any sun on my neck and the top of my head. And last week while out in a blueberry bush picking for over an hour again no shirt underneath I was completely cool and the hood came up and kept the sun off of me. This is the first hoodie type shirt I have ever owned and now love it it's my go to shirt whenever I am casual and have ordered another one for my husband. PS I have always had the perception that Patagonia products are a little pricey but this shirt is worth every penny!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight Comfort! This is a great lightweight hoodie for high albedo environments; glaciers, lakes, etc. Also nice for skinning, as it wicks moisture but isn't too hot to make you sweat.
