The Patagonia Men's Torrentshell Jacket is a packable rain jacket for staying dry in wet weather. Go ahead, with the 2.5 layer waterproof/breathable H2No® Performance Standard Shell you can step out into the world, even if it's pouring rain or snowing (just add a few warm layers underneath if it's cold). It has been finished with a durable water repellent finish which allows moisture to bead up on the fabric surface and roll right off, so it won't soak in. Pull the hood on during the worst of days, adjust it at the front and back to maintain peripheral vision while you hike the forest or sprint down the sidewalk to get back to the office before that big meeting. Under the arms you'll find zippers, to release excess heat. The pockets aren't just for holding compass or wallet and keys. The whole jacket stuffs into the pocket and can be clipped to a pack, tossed into your messenger bag or just save space until the next storm rolls in.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent features This is the best rain jacket I’ve ever owned! The pit vents are huge and kept me cool even at a muggy 75*F day. The hood adjust perfectly and it feels and looks like high quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from water tight! This jacket has been great in the snow and the rain. Bought an XL so I could layer, fits perfect, even with a fleece under it. Nice big hood fits over my helmet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It really works as a rain jacket and windbreaker! Very lightewight, but amazed me at how well it performed. Only caveat: the hood was difficult to keep secure in the wind. Had to hold onto the hood's drawstrings when facing the wind to keep it on my head. Needs velcro securement. But I'm old, so you young whippersnappers might like it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket so far! I bought this jacket about a month ago and have worn it during quite a few rain showers. Jacket works great and keeps me dry. Its fairly breathable and is a good all around rain jacket. My only regret is that I ordered it a bit too large. I got an XL and it is pretty baggy on me. I never seem to order the correct sizes of Patagonia stuff, this one turned out to run large.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never seems to disappoint Great product with great service! I would buy from here again. Took this gem out recently and stayed completely dry during a rainy hike up the Shenandoah mountains.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid rain coat Exactly what I was looking for, great fitting rain coat for warmer weather. Just a shell, so layers are needed for lower 50s and below. The fit was as expected, not too loose. Also the hood is appropriately sized.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has the features I was looking for I ordered this more than a month ago and finally had rain today - and it worked! It's lightweight, so it will work on a warm day or over layers on a cooler one, and I especially like the velcro adjustable cuffs.

If I am a 39” chest I would get a Medium, but is there sufficient space to throw on a sweater underneath if needed? Or should I get a large?

Asked by: Nick
Hiya Nick, thanks for your question! I would stick with size medium. This is a shell jacket and it is designed to accommodate layers underneath. Hope this helps!

waterproof or water repellent? your description uses both terms but in my experience they are enough different to be different and water repellent does not stand up to prolonged exposure to rain.

Asked by: champ9010
Thanks for reaching out to us. This jacket is waterproof. We hope this helps.

My old version has sever hook and loop closures along the front zipper so you don't have to use the zipper to close the jacked. Does jacket have them. Can't tell for sure from the description and pictures but doesn't seem so. thanks.

Asked by: Jack
Hey Jack, thanks for asking. No, this does not have hook and loop closures along the zipper flap. I hope this helps!
