The Patagonia Men's R1 Hoody is a fleece pullover for adventures in the alpine. Climbing or skiing, staying warm is all about the layers and this handy midlayer uses Polartec® Power Grid™ fabric to drop the weight, increase the breathability and above all, keep you toasty. The exterior is smooth so pulling something extra over top is super silky. The front zipper won't completely separate the front but it falls so deep you'll be able to vent quickly and efficiently when your exertion up the mountain gets to be too hot. A hood for your head, thumbloops for your hands, and a chest pocket to keep a pic of your loved one in. Or lipbalm.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Somewhat snug, but comfortable and looks good Bought this recently to add to my growing outerwear collection. I'm 5'11", 225 and the XL is a tad bit more snug than I typically prefer for outerwear, but after wearing it around, it actually fits and feels great. The slightly tighter fit will allow it to easily fit under other insulating layers and the thumb holes really help keep the sleeves from riding up. It definitely allows some air flow, so don't count on it to serve as your only layer if you're on a super-windy hike. It looks better in person than it does in pictures and is more than adequate to wear around town when you're not hiking up a hill somewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect mid layer for high output activities This is my go-to mid layer for high output activities. It is the perfect weight not too hot and not too cold. I layer it over a merino or capilene t-shirt, and under a shell of some sort, or a puffy if it is very cold. The hood fits nicely under a climbing helmet, the thumb holes are nice and the zipper goes down a long way to dump heat. I replaced an older version of this hoody that finally wore out, and I prefer this new one as it has the same material throughout the whole garment, the previous version utilized a lighter fabric on the end of the sleeves and at the bottom of the body which pilled up over time. Do yourself a favor and pick one of these up, you'll find yourself putting it in your pack for nearly every adventure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic and well-designed We own several of these sweaters and have for half a decade. Just bought one for our pre-teen son. he was jealous of the face coverage under a ski helmet. We prefer the original style because they had longer tails and off-set zippers. Really wish Patagonia hadn't decided to "improve" the R1 with these recent changes, but the material is still exactly right for outdoor winter activities. This sweater wicks and warms perfectly. Warm on the windy lift and wicking when hiking up the ridge line, warming again at the base in the lift line. It has never gotten wet - it wicks so well. It is the best sweater I've found or I wouldn't pay this kind of money. The benefit we can see of this shorter length is that you can better wear it with a climbing harness. Nice to have sweaters in both lengths.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mid Weight Active Layer I bought this for a trip I am actually taking in September to Iceland, but was on sale when I made the purchase. I have already used it a number of times. Really excellent mid weight layer. Runs true to size for me, I normally wear an XL and this XL fit perfectly, enough room for a base layer but not so roomy that it caused problems fitting with an outer layer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase! I bought this for my husband at Christmas and it made for a great gift. He absolutely loves anything Patagonia. He has said it is very comfortable, he loves the thumb holes, and we love that attached hoody that fits snug around the head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great service Bought this as a Christmas gift. The color is awesome and the help I received when I made a mistake was great. My husband has had one of these jackets for 5 years and it still looks like new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, comfy, and lightweight Great layer for skiing/snowboarding, running in the cold, backpacking, etc. Really warm without being bulky, and long enough to fit a tall guy like myself

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Always been a fan of the Patagonia R1, terrific pullover. Only negative is the slim fit, particularly in the upper arms and shoulders.

This says its 5.7 oz? That's a typo correct? Everywhere else I look this is not this light.

Asked by: memeryf
