The Patagonia Men's Powder Bowl Jacket is a waterproof jacket for spending the season on your skis or snowboard, whether you're hitting groomed trails or hoofing it into the backcountry for precious, ungroomed powder. The 2-layer polyester GORE-TEX® fabric keeps rain, snow, sleet and wind at bay while a mesh lining on the inside wicks moisture to keep you comfortable. The regular fit allows for layers with a removable hood that is helmet compatible for weather protection that won't deter safety. A RECCO® avalanche rescue reflector has also been embedded within the jacket for an additional safety measure. Comfort features that block drafts include Velcro adjusters at the cuffs, cinch cord at the hem, and hood adjustments. All the zippers on the jacket are watertight Slim Zips to keep water at bay. The powder skirt keeps snow out of your pants and the pit zips are ready to be opened any time your blood starts boiling and you need a little cooling.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good ski jacket. Good choice for skiing in cold, stormy weather, adequate ventilation when weather is good (pit zips, detachable hood). A bit heavy, but the mesh liner means you can use one less layer in some conditions. Pockets are roomy, and zippers all work one-handed without fouling. I've used it in temps from 10F to 45F. It's great below freezing, but I'd use something lighter above that in clear weather, especially for back country skiing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly as advertised I was nervous purchasing this without trying it on as I am 6'2" and only 145lbs (very slim). Upon putting it on alone it was a little on the larger side, however once I layered up for skiing it was perfect. Kept me dry all day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powder Bowl Jacket This is a very nice "light weight" Goretex jacket. It does an excellent job repelling rain. The hood hangs in your eyes if you don't wear a baseball hat.

is hood insulated?

Asked by: Bashlal
Hey there, The Patagonia Powder Bowl Jacket's hood, like its powder skirt is 91% eco-polyester/9% spandex. The hood is helmet compatible for your alpine adventures.

Is hood only made up of the shell material or does it have insulation underneath to keep head warm?

Asked by: Bashlal
The torso and sleeve lining have a 100% brushed polyester mesh, the hood does not. The hood is 91% eco-polyester/9% spandex like the powder skirt. The Patagonia Powder Bowl Jacket is considered a non-insulated shell. To add warmth, you would use an insulation or mid layer and a base layer. I hope this helps.
