I don't know a lot about science and technology but I do know that things with "nano" in them are super techy and futuristic. Patagonia was spot on when they named their Men's Nano Puff Hoody. Techy and futuristic. This insulating layer utilizes compressible PrimaLoft® ONE to trap heat close to the body while not adding excess bulk. Synthetic insulation still functions even when wet making this a very useful layer in even the most severe conditions. The 100% recycled polyester shell can handle light moisture while blocking wind and can be layered effortlessly. Add into the equation the insulated hood and the fact the whole thing can stow into its own internal.... and you get the solution to your cold weather problems.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! Purchased this to use as a midlayer for very cold conditions and outer layer for everything else where I didn't want to be concerned about getting a down jacket wet. So far I am very impressed! Warm with just a light base layer down into the 30's, compressible, light weight, and good fit. I'm 6'2", 200 pounds, 34" waist with an athletic/muscular build with broad shoulders. The L fits great! It is snug across the chest and shoulders and not too baggy through the body. There are some slightly lighter weight synthetic jackets out there, but I purchased this one for the quality, warranty, and nice look of the jacket. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best piece of clothing I have ever owned. Warm, windproof, water resistant (at least from snow flakes) and breathable. Basically just as advertised. I am 5 ft 10, 250 lb bodybuilder that hikes, hunts, backpacks and fishes all over. I run hot and sweat easily and am very impressed with how breathable this hoody is. I am comfortable in 15 degree cold and Chicago wind with this hoody as my only outer layer and comfortable inside away from the elements with the hoody unzipped and not sweating. The XL fits exactly how I wanted it to. Tight against my chest and shoulders to use as a mid-layer, but still designed well for functional movement, and good length. Again I am super impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best jacket for all kinds of weather. I was a little bit worried that this jacket would be too "puffy", big and goofy-looking. However, it turns out that that is not the case. It is extremely comfortable and lightweight and fits very well. It is great for cold, cold wearher, especially with a sweater or something underneath. It is also all you need if the weather is only chilly- it is very breathable and keeps you comfortable whether you are outside or just wearing it around the house. It is exactly what I was looking for for both very cold weather and as just a casual jacket to wear around. I am 6' and around 180lbs and the Large fits perfectly. Lastly, it was delivered very quickly and the Moosejaw customer service has been great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid choice I bought this a couple months ago to expand my ever-growing jacket repertoire. I own a MHW soft-shell and the Patagonia Down Sweater Hoodie, and this jacket is the perfect middle weight/warmth. I have found that this jacket is perfect for active use in weather between 25 and 40 degrees. Inactive use probably has a range between 35-50 degrees. With all of the stitching on this, if you expect any wind above 10 mph in temps below 30 degrees, I'd recommend supplementing with a wind breaker like a Patagonia Houdini. Not as breathable as the Rab Xenon or Arcteryx Atom LT, but perfect if you are looking for static warmth in a lightweight jacket. By way of sizing, I'm 5'9", 160 lbs, with a 30 inch waist - and the small fits me best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thin. Light. Warm. I have a duct taped Patagonia nano pullover that has seen several years of faithful service as:,,1. A mid-layer or stand alone garment.,,2. A pillow.,,3. A football.,,4. A dodgeball.,,5. A sleeping bag for my dog.,,6. A straight jacket for my drunken Irish buddy.,,,,Designed by climbers. Used by climbers.,,,,The only thing I missed during that time...was a full zipper and a hood.,,,,This new jacket has it all and will provide you many happy years of service and memories.,,,,*Because the new stuff pocket is square, it can double as a makeshift cornhole bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a great jacket but it didn't fit me well. I love Patagonia jackets. I figured ordering a large was a no brainer. I am 5'7 and weigh about 170lbs. Wear a size 42s jacket. The Nano Puff Jacket pulled in the arm pits. Everything else was fine, comfortable around the chest, sleeve length OK. I had the same problem with a number of large jackets lately. My old Patagonia large jackets fit well, I wonder if they are not cutting them tighter. Ended up with a similar Lands End jacket that did not pull. Otherwise this is a quality jacket, I wish it fit better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Day-to-Day Jacket So I own both this jacket, and the Nano-Air. The Nano-Puff is great day to day jacket as it is warm, extremely light, and durable. However, it does not stretch, and seems to stink after intense use, despite washing. Additionally, I have found it to feel rather clammy if I put it on when sweaty, such as I would with a belay jacket when I finish a climb. Nevertheless, it is a great jacket to wear to classes and over an R1 or other base layer. If you are looking for a true alpine piece, I would point you towards the Nano Air, which stretches and wicks better, but is less durable as its shell fabric tends to pill. I actually often use them in conjunction when I do not feel like lugging around a DAS parka since the Nano Puff is cut bigger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality and versatility So we are kind of obsessed with Patagonia Nano Puff everything. The hoodie is no exception. I got the hoodie for my husband as a gift and it was a total win. We are a pretty active family - we ski/snowboard, have two boys that have us outside all the time and love walking around our city and being involved with things. He wears this coat as a single layer when we are cycling/walking around town - its great for warmth with very little bulk. That's why its also great as a "car coat" - not too bulky. Throw on an under layer and a waterproof shell and he's on his way to the slopes to ski. He has had a Nano Puff jacket (not hoodie) for about 3 years and it still looks brand new - I'm sure the hoodie will be the same. Great investment!

What's the temp. range for this jacket? What's the best usage? Looks & feels very thin to be warm. Tried on a friend's and nearly froze in low 50s with chilly wind. Must weight L/S shirt & at least midweight fleece/wool underneath!

Thanks for the question! The Nano Puff is a lightly insulated jacket. Unfortunately, Patagonia does not temperature rate their products. It is best used for Hiking, Skiing, Ice and Mixed Climbing, Climbing, Basecamp and Expedition. If you are looking for a more high energy usage item, then I would take a look at the Patagonia Men's Nano-Air Hoody. If you want something with a similar feel of the Nano Puff, then I would check out the Rab Men's Xenon X Hoodie. I included links below for both of my suggestions. Hope this helps!
