The Patagonia Men's Hyper Puff Parka is a packable insulated layer tailored to keep you warm in cold weather environments. Thanks to HyperDAS™ synthetic insulation, an advanced version of the original "Dead Air Space" technology, this parka provides an impressive warmth-to-weight ratio. HyperDAS™ insulation compresses accordion-style to reduce bulk when not in use, and expands quickly to trap warmth in its high-loft state. With double packed insulation on front and back of the torso, and a slim torso profile with hem drawcord, this piece is engineered for optimal warmth retention. The ultra durable, weather resistant and stretchy Pertex Quantum® shell completes this comfortable, high-performance package.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Pertex Quantum

Pertex Quantum
Pertex Quantum is lightweight, windproof and abrasion resistant. Its strength-to-weight ratio is optimized to protect your insulation and maximize loft, thus trapping more warm air. This all adds up to you being warm and cozy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great belay parka I have to disagree with the other reviewer on just about everything. It's a parka, not a jacket, so it fits long. I'm 6'2 and the large hangs below my butt. I have a 76" wingspan and the cuffs reach my palms. It has a double zipper, so no interference with your harness while belaying. The hood fits my helmet, so no complaints there. It's more fitted than I'm used to for a parka (previously using a MH Nilas), but my layers still fit underneath. It's warm into the single digits during minimal activity, which is awesome. I've only belayed/climbed with it in the high teens so far, though. I do agree with the other dude - it's not the most compressible, but if he's getting a zero° bag into the same size stuff sack, and not a compression bag, that's impressive.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Weird sizing, awesome (unpackable) insulation Recommended for guys with long thin arms. For whatever reason, Patagonia abandoned their old sizing patterns. Mine was way too long in the torso and arms and narrow in the chest. The hood left a lot to be desired. Patagonia also abandoned the “parka” model, which had the two-way front zipper. All that means is that you can’t wear the lighter weight “jacket option” while you are in your harness, unless you’re crazy tall. I also noticed that it packs down to A huge size- my 0 degree down bag is smaller.
