DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Pant Well made product. Would be great for shoulder seasons and/or high movement winter activities. Got them for skiing, had to return them because the cuff and gaiter did not fit over my boots (Scarpa t-race) when in tour mode.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lightweight and warm! I purchased these for my son, for Christmas. I was worried when they arrived because they were so lightweight. Windproof and waterproof fabric is fantastic. He loves them! He uses them for snowboarding and climbing, dual purpose. no bulk, easy to wear!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality and Comfort The pants are very comfortable, warm, and water resistant. I was very impressed by the quality of the pants, and although upon first inspection they do not seem like they would be as water resistant as some gore-tex snow pants I have had in the past, the Dual Point Alpine Pants were very effective in keeping any water, wind and cold out. They function great both with and without the overall straps (whichever is your preference), and they are very easy to maneuver in. As many Patagonia products seem to do, they run a bit small, so I would recommend buying a size up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very versatile pants This is a great overall pair of pants, stretchy and quite comfortable. I think it should be comfortable over a wide temperature range, as the fabric is moderately thin. The four pockets all have zippers, which helps make this great for travel, since you are less apt to lose items from the pockets. My favorite feature, though, is the sizing. Typically, Patagonia pants in the medium size are too small for me, and large size pants are too big. These come in sizes by the inch, so the 34 size is perfect for me. I would definitely recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Softshell bottoms for _______ These are the best soft shell pants for, you fill in the blank. I got them recently and used them for hiking, camping and climbing. I can see using them for skiing, alpine climbing, paragliding, extreme Frisbee..whatever. I have a dozen stretch woven pants from a variety of brands and these are by far my favorite. Best part is the material. Unlike most softshells which are either poly (fragile) or nylon (plasticy) with spandex, the Dual Points use both Poly and Nylon making the material much more like high grade Swiss Schoeller. The weight makes them versatile, from 0 degrees (with capilene) up to high 60's. Love all the pockets and ways to keep em up (suspenders, belt loops and integrated belt), first pair of pants that didn't sag under by 60lb pack. I like that they come in my actual waist size 35" and aren't 'euro' cut, tight and long for skinny giants. Size 36 fit my 195lb, 5'10" frame perfectly with room for a mid base layer. I also got a size 35" for summer wear without a base layer. They go perfectly with my Patagonia Dimensions jacket: Bonus: the red zipper on the blue matches my jacket color nicely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Soft Shell Climbing Pants on the market today - period. I've used these a few times and really, really like them. There have many a variety of soft shell pants that I have tried from reputable brands and they all seemed to be great, but lacking in one or two features that a different pair had. And so on and so on. There was always something left to be desired.,,,,Patagonia nailed it - they capture the best features of all soft shell pants on the market today - and took them a step further.,,,,PROS:,,- Actual sizes including odd numbers! Very refreshing to be able to order a perfect size 31" ,,- Stretch cuffs and built-in gaiters fit sold around plastic boots,,- Cuff snap-tab closures, protecting leg zippers and adding redundancy,,- Roomy pockets,,- Burly fabric and stitching, but doesn't wear heavy,,- Multiple ways to hold them up!,,,,CONS:,,,,- The sizing felt a tad bit generous for those of slender build. The 31" waist size fits me like size 32" jeans (room for layering though),,- No abrasion patches around cuffs (minor - most others don't either)

Will these pants fit well over an alpine ski boot? (Specifically a hybrid touring boot like the Technica Cochise)

Asked by: Marco
Hiya Marco, thanks for your question! This pant will fit over most Alpine boots. It would depend on the circumference of the boot compared to the leg opening. For example, the leg opening measurement for sizes 33 and 34 is 17" around, while the measurement for sizes 35 and 36 17.5" is around. Hope this helps!
