Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Water-resistant do-it-all backpack I bought this in the middle of the summer in the Idaho Rockies. The vinyl fabric is very water resistant and held up even in early winter conditions during my two weeks in Iceland. I can't say if it's waterproof, but it can handle a lot; I don't feel like it needs a pack cover. The side pouches are really tall and can fit a lot of things besides water (like snacks or camera stuff.) It also packs very small-- I used it during my hitch-hiking in Iceland because of this. In terms of issues, how heavy is a chest belt? I mean, really. And there is a weird pouch over the waterbag pocket that I still can't really see the purpose of. The camelback holder doesn't seem to be very good at stabilising the pouch without any hooks or the like (really a problem if you want to trail run or keep very few things in the pack.) And the shoulder straps and back are very minimal, so keep it light, but didn't seem to get clammy from sweat or anything during the summer. Bottom line: it's a very worthwhile and versitile backpack for day-hiking, or stuffing into your big pack on a longer trip. It is stylish enough that you can bring it with you to Uni and then laugh when your friends' textbooks are all wet, but you're set (it can fit a laptop, but 15" is pushing it). I recommend it for people who are looking for a bit more space in a daypack, and don't need all the accessories. It is not tight enough to handle much trail running. Also, if you need a nifty pocket for every little thing, then this is not your rucksack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bag!!! I took this bag on a 10 day trip to Costa Rica. I carried on this bag with everything I needed! It was sturdy enough to handle 4 international airports as I flew from Alaska. It is great in the rain and held up to my abuse. I also brought my 11 year old a smaller backpack version for the same trip and it still looks like new 4 months later -he uses it daily for school...roughly. I may buy another for my husband!! Plus..it looks sharp!
