DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty much everything a boy could want in a pack I bought this, put all my sport climbing gear (everything but a rope), a weeks' worth of clothes, and a few jackets in it, then flew to California using it as my carry-on luggage. So not only did I save $50 (United has free carry-ons still!) on the cost of my baggage, but it has a sturdy, yet lightweight frame that feels great on hiking/approaches. Then when I got to the base of my route, the full-length zip was pretty life-changing. I was able to easily access all of the contents without exploding all of my gear, food and jackets all over the crag like a boyscout troop. The pack has a super sturdy construction, so I will probably never have to worry about durability. Would recommend to pretty much any climber, and anyone wanting a hiking pack they can fly with!

What is the sizing on this pack? I'm a 5'8" male. Which size should I get

Asked by: ianh
Hiya Ian, thanks for your question! In order to determine the size you need, you will need your torso measurement. Measure the length of your back from the center of your neck to the top of your tailbone. The S (Small/Medium) size will fit torso sizes 16-19" and waist of 28-36", and the L (Large/XL) will fit torso of 19-22" and waist of 32-42". I asked my office mate, Nathan, who is also 5'8" and he prefers the small. Hope this helps!

Is there a rain cover available from Patagonia for this particular pack?

Asked by: Rtar
Thanks for the question! Unfortunately, Patagonia does not make additional covers at this time. The pack is treated with DWR (durable water repllent) finish and is made of a plain weave nylon fabric with a Polyurethane coating. I would recommend a universal waterproof cover, such as the Sea to Summit or the Mountainsmith Rain Cover. I included links below. I hope this helps a little!
