Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome mid-sized bag for checked luggage I normally save my reviews for the manufacturers website but I believe the only other review for this product here on Moosejaw is quite unfair to this great product. If you have specific needs/wants in a product, do a little research before hand and get something that meets your needs. Do knock another product you bought just because you didn't research your purchase. Patagonia makes a great lineup of options with their Black Hole bags covering all different sizes and with or without wheels. Currently the rolling options come in 40L, 70L, 120L. I believe they downsized the smallest roller from 45L to 40L so it would fit better as a carry-on but I don't own that bag so I can't say for sure. Otherwise, this sizing system makes perfect sense, especially if you've ever bought a hiking backpack. It's essentially small, medium, and large. As with any luggage, anything considered medium or large will be a checked bag. Knowing the interior volume of the bag is far more useful than the outside dimensions like most suitcases are measured. 70L will easily swallow a weeks worth or more of clothing and accessories. More gear-intensive travel or longer multi-week trips might want the much larger 120L bag. A rolling 90L option from Patagonia could be useful for many peoples needs. This material is burly and should have no problem dealing with rough baggage handlers. Zippers appear to be burly but as with anything, overstuffing them may stress them too much. Thankfully, Patagonia has their killer Iron Clad guarantee should you or anyone else do any damage. As with just about every piece of luggage I've ever used, the top lid has additional zippered pockets for smaller items which I usually use for socks. Heavier items can get swallowed up in the main compartment. Small outer pocket can also hold a few small items that you don't put in your carry-on personal item. Outside loops give you a few options for lashing on additional items if you need, or attaching a luggage tag.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hoping It Works Out I bought this size to serve as a mid-point between a smaller carry-on and a large rolling duffel. It's now sitting next to me, all packed and ready for two weeks in Cuba. I saw this bag on my last trip as someone wheeled it onto a plane, then googled until I found it. It may work as a carry-on, but stuffed as mine is, I doubt it will make it. It was difficult to find the dimensions of each size. The 45L, 70L, and 120L don't mean much, so I actually went into a physical store with a tape measure, before deciding to order the 70L. It's a very handsome bag, and should be easy to identify coming off a carousel or piled with others on a group tour. There are some issues, though, even before using it. There's no place to insert identification tags inside or outside the bag, and I couldn't find a place to attach a luggage tag. The zippers come together in a way that will make locking the bag difficult. There is only one small pocket on the side of the bag. Not enough room for a newspaper or much else. The inside of the bag is basically a big empty space with two sets of straps to hold items in. I don't find straps like that particularly useful, mainly getting in the way while I'm trying to get organized. The section under the opening flap has two mesh pockets, but I generally don't like pockets like that. When they're filled, they weigh down the cover and the items within the pockets are difficult to access. I would have much preferred side pockets on both sides of the bag. As it is, there's no easy way to access items you might need immediately after arriving at your destination, like gloves, umbrella, paper maps and guides, or sunglasses, for example. And all of this is before even using the bag. I hope I find positive features to outweigh the negatives after I use it.
